Hidden doors
I would like to have secret panels/doors...

I'd also appreciate a surface that ladders can't affix to; keeping terrible humans from easily climbing towers and plundering my efforts...

The clipping bug negates hidden doors or anything else hidden. You don't even have to cheat to do it.

Thought clipping was taken out ?, you used to in fly mode be able to go through your walls

Just put a verge around your tower at some point.
But I can't get the issue, can't they just climb on their own frames to jump in??

Wood frames being picked up kinda negates the need for ladders XD

One could make a surface that nothing would stick to pretty easily, but that wont fix the problem.

Yeah the frames trump slick surfaces...

But the hidden doors... With our slick Unity upgrade is this now a possibility?

even if you could make a hidden door whats the point cause once people know about it they will know what to look for so its pointless but its a nice idea

Will they know what to look for?

There are many signs that signify human occupation.
My guess is your trying to avoid every games nemesis and thats griefers.

You are never going to be 100% safe and would be really lucky not to have your base found by someone during the course of the game.

I doesn`t matter how well you hide it, someone could just as easily follow you from a distance and see where your base is that way.

A trick would be to have a chamber totally surrounded by stone which only you know which ones to break to reveal the chamber.

...its more for having a secret space in an assumed human occupation. Hiding in plain sight.

...or maybe not in an assumed human occupation; an unassuming crag in a rock that unlocks the entrance to a fortress of solitude.

An idea would be to build it in a pregenerated tunnel system.

I was just thinking about this again, certain bushes or vines we could grow (albiet pretty obvious unless they are all over the place which they definately should be) or a trapdoor block that alligns tot he ground with different terrain types on top (grass, desert, burnt forest, wasteland etc...) definately would be cool just remember not to put a light source near the cave mouth or it would be pretty obvious at night ;)

My friends and I had an underground base. The main room was sparsely stocked but looked lived in. Our main cashe of supply was behind a stone wall. We had dug out a secondary room then covered the entrance with 1 layer of stone. When we were online we would open it up, but if we were not at the base, it was simple as laying the stone back down to cover the entrance. You could do this if you were underground.

Hidden base in the snow biome is possible. Scrape off the top of a hill, build a base, burry it in snow. Stick trees near the entrance... People won't find it readily and snow breaks real easy.

I think the OP means something like having a bunch of wooden walls, but one of the walls is actually a door that looks like a wall. Sort of like Batman having a secret passage into the batcave. I get the whole "hide stuff behind a stone wall" thing, but that can be a pain if you have to keep destroying it. And there is always the chance you get raided and killed and most of your supplies are stuck behind a wall you can't open anymore because you lost your pickaxe.

I honestly think this would be a good idea for when they implement skill trees. Perhaps a construction skill tree that would enable you to build "secret" structures, stuff like torch levers and hidden doors. Maybe even pitfall traps that look like a normal grass block but collapses when stepped on like how the old bridges used to be. Honestly, I could see a lot of potential for sneaky builds like that.
