Edit: Yep, worked fine - had to figure out to hold the sledge down (like an upgrade tool does). Produced 24 metal plates for me.
@Lenk - Seems to be okay Lenk - give it another shot, or do a clean install.
Yes it is :) I didnt have a website explaining it all before, and was having to give people direction on all 12 machines verbally over TS3 or on forums. I decided it would be best to throw up some brief explanations until I get the site all finished up. The Anvil is one of the 'simpler' items too! The guys in my clan said they expected a UI to pop up like Minecraft.
What I did to get it to work first time:
You need to use the Google Drive files; this is a known issue with the RAR file on Gamefront. Its been fixed, but I only update the RAR once per week.
To fix it, download the entityclasses file from Google Drive and replace what you have from Gamefront. I will update the Gamefront files either tonight or tomorrow - but be aware that Google Drive always has the exact same files we are running on the server. GameFront will always be 1 week behind the G drive files until after A11 :)
EDIT: Its also best to follow the file on G Drive as I regularly issue balance patches and bug fixes. Have a look at our changelog thread to get an idea of how hard I work to keep things moving along and in working order as well as balanced. Up until recently, it was an every day thing. You may find some balance issues that are very difficult to deal with in the current RAR package.

Thanks, I will add this to my main post!
Make and place anvil.... check
Have lumps of coal and a shovel on hotbar..... check
Right click anvil with shovel to fire it up..... check (flames!!!! woot!)
Forged iron and sledgehammer on hotbar..... check
right click with sledgehammer to make the iron into metal sheets.... check
it worked!!!
I apologise for my earlier harsh words. As it turns out, it was my copy of the game being corrupted that was causing the issue. I hope the game files are more robust in the future, this is the second (or 3rd?) time something like this has happened.
I probably should have responded in a more mature manner - and certainly not kept it going. Ive never been good with PR - I work in construction inspections. We treat each other like crap regularly then have lunch together.
Hopefully A11 will bring a more stable file system. (and more modding tools!)
Update today, fixed a couple bugs and added some things.
GameFront RAR download also updated to latest version today! *
* - still updating at time of posting
I know a great place we can have lunch, depending on your preference... lots of low cost excellent restaurants around here :)
I have new items in game and the fat dudes explode and all that but I get no graphics for new items and no new UI either. thank you.
Usually path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\7 Days To Die
Your missing the shared assets files that should go here - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\7 Days To Die\7DaysToDie_Data
If I'm wrong someone please correct me. I'm new to this too and struggled where exactly to put the files. You basically (as of yesterday when I downloaded it) get 4 game files from the mod sharedassets 1and 2 prefabs and config. You get to them by going to c:drive>Programfiles(x86)Steam>SteamApps>common>7 Days to Die. In the 7 days to die folder you have 2 folders where you need to swap files. The first is in the 7DaysToDie_Data folder you should have a sharedassets1 file and sharedassets 2 file. Swap those originals with the ones supplied in the mod and that part is done. Underneath 7DaysToDie_Data folder there is a Data folder. In that folder there are config and prefab files. Swap those with the mod ones and youre done.
