7 Days to Die

random gen map size / desert biome?
i stacked alot teas and ran a whole ingame day in 1 direction, but havent found an end of the map(the console was actually filled with messages like "zombie x fell off the world"). so as there should be a city in the center , the map cant be infinite?

also, i havent found a single desert biome in the map( im on day 27). 90 % are grassland, rest wasteland and snow. why is that?

Not sure why that is I have always found a desert biome by running north and snow by running south. As of now the directions are backwards as im concerned but also i have found the desert and snow biome right next to each other on multiple occasions. If that doesn't work try a new game name or follow the rivers as roads because they always intersect with different biomes. Hope it helps :)

The map in random gen is infinite. I've ran several real hours in one direction before and there really is no end. I ended up somewhere around 40k east, 15k north. On that run I encountered 3-4 of every biome type except for snow, which I found none, and 6 cities.

The Snow biome seems to be slightly more rare on the whole. I've started a ton of random games, only once ever saw a snow biome within a few minutes run of the starting point.

So far in our game we have 4 wastelands (2 with cities), 2 snows, 1 burnt forest, 1 plains/grasslands, 1 desert, 1 pine forest and all the rest are maple forest.

@Jaga We have a snow biome that is directly adjacent to our center hub city.

I don't have any problem finding either of them, lol. Just keep running north for about 5 - 10 in-game days to find snow biome, I usually find desert biomes easily. Where I am right now is excellent because by the snow biome where I am building my base I have a whole river crossing across and to it grassland and desert, so I can secure a lot of materials and then get back to my cozy home at the end of the afternoon. Also the map I think is infinite, I have ran days and days and there doesn't seem to have an end.

@iEuro Yeah, the RWG map is currently infinite.

Random maps do have an eventual size limit, but I don't think anybody has found what those limits are yet. The server just creates new map chunks as needed.

The Random words are a little barren currently. There were some bugs in the XML files that prevents some of the prefabs and other map features from spawning. In one thread it was stated that some of those issues were fixed in one of the recent hotfixes, but it's possible they're not all fixed yet.

In my current Random World, my friends and I have found 4ish Wastelands, 1 big city, and 1 smaller city. a couple burnt forest areas. two snow biomes, one big plains and one or two small plains, a couple deserts, and plenty of forests (mostly maple, some pine). Apart from the cities, we've found no larger towns - just clusters of 1-3 buildings a couple campsites and a couple wood cabins. We've not found any police stations outside of the city, no large towns, and no army bases.

I had trouble finding it too, than I went south, far south

I now found every biome, I belive there are 7

Biomes I know of:
1. Wasteland city
2. Wasteland
3. burnt forest
4. snow
5. desert
6. maple forest
7. pine forest
8. grasslands/plains

Thread made on October 4th, 2014. The borders in random gen were introduced at A13. (which you *can* remove, btw, but at your own risk)
