But on a real note, there are a few things that could make this game even better.
1. npc's added ( when you reach a group of houses or a base, have some npc's with guns or melee weapons guarding it. or get rushed by a group or raiders or bandits in your house or base.
2. Some more nature ( thats not infected) should work fine, like grizzly bears or mountain lions, and maybe alligators by some water areas
3. A main boss infected, one that takes a lot to bring him down, and one that can wreck a building if you hide in it. And maybe be able to throw a car at you if ones close by.
I was thinking flying zombies in the same fashion that this guy was turned into a "spider"

(from the craptastic B-movie Infestation)
I like the idea of zombies buried deep in the earth over my digging zombies. But if we had wolves...wow.. How long before this became "The Grey"? 6 dudes sitting around a campfire getting plucked off one by one by some mofo of a grey wolf. Since wolves hunt by night, TFP could take out running zombies and just have wolves as your main nighttime foe.
Ok, I officially like this thread again :)
Bandits are already planned.
Staying along the zombie theme makes more sense to me. If a flying zombie is crazy, then a giant flying hornet is even more crazy. Much more crazy really... :)
Edit: Most LOL worthy: "Blind and deaf zombies (they just kind of stand around and grab you if you touch them)". :D

:/
some of those are a good idea to add after they finish getting the the main game feeatures done like xp/level and such
Actually I'm no where near as serious as you seem to be. ;P. I have a flying hornet bias is all. Since this is a zombie game, I would prefer to stick to the zombie theme. A flying bug, no matter how huge, has never stopped me from enjoying a great game though.
How about a jumping Zombie instead?
Very well done.
Great motion acting.
The Crawler capture is going to be a lot creepier.
My original post was about "turning up the atmosphere".
The Raven Flock could just be an affect and not a targetable onject.
The Wolf would be rarely seen. Like so rarely that you almost forget about it.
Every couple of week during Mask periods to keep things interesting.
And it doesn't have to be over powered like the zombie dogs just a threat to keep you on your toes and add some more fear to the night.
