Babies crying...?
I realize you want a creepy atmosphere but it makes zero sense. I shouldn't be hearing babies crying and toy box music. It kind of ruins the feel.

there is also whispers on the wind in grass land bioms lol

If it added to the creepy effect then it wouldn't be a problem to me. It's the fact that babies crying does not scare/creep meout in any fashion and instead makes it feel as though they are forcing a lame creep factor down the player's throat more than anything. This isn't Metro, I shouldn't be hearing babies doing anything or toy box music. Shrieks way off in the distance, whistling wind in the trees sounding like faint whispers, the paranoid delusion of thinking you hear footsteps in a lone, apocalyptic world: these are all awesome thoughts when you think of sound design. Babies crying though? Music? Hell, why not add the sounds of cars and people in crowds while you're at it. It makes just as little sense and detracts from the fear I usually feel when wandering around alone.

psst? Do you hear dead people?
Pet Sep 13, 2014 @ 9:32pm
Like IRL or in game?
Cause IRL I accept it as the victims who want me to pay for what I did. :summerghost:

In game? I dunno, I think it really counts as un-dead, doesn't it?

I prefer crying babies and whispers than the constant bugs buzzing noise in the forest/grasslands biomes...
Pet Sep 13, 2014 @ 9:52pm
Bugs makes a lot more sense and are a lot less annoying. If I wanna hear a baby crying I'll try n put my son down for a nap lol I don't understand how people find children scary in any capacity beyond something clearly unnatural and covered in creepy make-up, but then ANYTHING can be creepy if shown in that light.

I wish they would come out with clowns that bust through walls with no warning. That would be creepy.:special:

Edit: I'm tired and I'm tired.

besides, it's not like there's actually music in the game aside from that 10 second loop in the main menu.

Actually....

I had no idea they had three seperate options for this, will try it now and see if the babies go to sleep. I still would love it if the sounds were just taken out of the game. I might try to remove it by hand myself.

as far as i've been able to tell, ambient doesn't actually do anything at all.

You're 100% correct. I just tried it with Ambience at 100%, Music 0% and all of the background crap was gone. Foot steps, howling wind, babies and music.

Ambience 0% & Music 100% I could hear all of the extra sounds along with the clipping soundtrack. :/

It's a placeholder in an alpha stage video game.

I don't listen to music or ambient effects when i play since i'd rather focus my attention on where the zeds are.

why can't i +rep your post. seriously. this ♥♥♥♥ is another thing that aggravates the hell out of me about this game. super simple core pieces of the game, like the aforementioned positional sound engine, are being completely ignored in favor of updates to ♥♥♥♥ that already works perfectly fine for an alpha game.

like i mean i know it'll be fixed Eventually™ but still, it's so frustrating.

Why are you letting an unfinished, indie video game frustrate you?

Eventually™?

It will get done when it gets done.

Just because we all bought into an Early Access project doesn't mean we get to play The Wounded Consumer Card(tm) whenever the game doesn't behave the way we want or get developed at a speed that satisfies us.

...children playing, airplanes, lawnmowers, machine guns, barking orders, tanks, bombs, etc... hell yeah.

they should add more. like occasional city noises., faint screams, explosions. i think ya'll are just too scared to deal with it. maybe you should play with a blankey, or take your prozac

One, there's no reason to be rude about any of this. If you don't agree it's cool. Two, I don't think you've actually been reading the comments, just wanted to come in and start something for no reason.

eh I dont think its that big a problem I've heard distant crys and whispers in abondoned or empty places homes work etc before id just pass it off as paranoia.... I mean if you can hear things in the regular world why wouldnt you hear ♥♥♥♥ like this when zombies are running around and your scared ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lol there is always a way to deal with iritations like this if you find some sort of reasoning thats what I do....

ahhh im jus' teasin'. i make my fort out in the forest just to avoid such annoyances as babies crying and whispering consumers. the birds and bugs make me feel calm and collect

Literally, the only thing I honestly hate about the sound is just the crying baby effect. I don't know anything about the game as far as data so I don't know how to remove it and it just annoys me like crazy.

Whispering, shrieks in the distance, howling winds, bugs, birds, feet - None of these bother me. I think to a point you're going to hear some things like people talking (or what you think you hear) espcially if left all alone for ... however long this happened lol. I wish there was a way to just remove that one sound, I think the toy box jingle is a part of it. I looked in the folders and I can't make heads or tails of it so I dunno how to do it. I hope it is removed from the game entirely at some point, like I said I like all of the other noises. I hate to mute every single one of them just because of one extremely cliché and mood ruining effect.

Edit: When I say the other noises don't 'bother me', I mean they don't ruin the feel of the game or take me out of the atmosphere of it all. They do creep me out and being a mostly solo player, crouched down low in the dark abandoned ruin of an apartment building looking for books; sometimes they just downright terrify me and I have no problem admitting that lol
