Navezgane vs Random Gen (Vote)
I'm thinking of starting a new game, I've been playing on the Navezgane Map, and I like it fine (though I just found out Central City is not on the map; but I haven't explored the whole map either). But I'm considering playing on a Random Gen Map. I like to hear opinions on the two, and why you prefer one to the other.

Note: I'm just asking for opinions... so no one is right... no one is wrong... and no need to argue; I'd just like to know what folks think.

Advanced Thanx!!!

Random Gen, Infinite worlds. Unknown worlds, And huge chances of it all going wrong! I like a challenge.

Random Gen. But only after they add cars. Random gen is really really, REALLY HUGE! The point's of intrest are spread very thin so prepare to do alot of walking. ionly play random gen cause i have navezgane down by memory. but cars will be a godsend for me......

I like Navezgane for singleplayer because there's online maps if I decide I need to find something (like an army camp or gas station) but I like random gen for multiplayer because it's always as new and random as the people.

I prefer random gen maps for now.

Random Gen upsides:
1. Never-ending size - search and search some more for the best spot for your base. I chose a location at the corner of 4 biomes.
2. Incredibly huge cities in the biomes with all that scrap metal on the ground, be prepared for some lag/fps drop due to the size of these cities
3. Police stations in these cities have a "hidden room" that spawns a munitions crate (these crates spawn smg's, snipers, rockets, etc at a low chance). Some of the largest cities on our server have up to 8 of these police stations.
4. When you just wanna get out and explore you can go wherever you want with no boundaries. Yesterday i ran for 4 hours straight real time just cuz i could...and then finally died when i stayed out too late and got eaten by dogs.
5. Lots of flexibility - I have a mine 5k south of my base, a hunting outpost 3k north of my base in the new grasslands biome, and a farm half a kilometer west of my base...because the map is so huge, no one bothers my stuff and I have yet to be discovered by bandits. When I want a fight I go to the main spawn town.

Random Gen downsides:
1. Currently, no military recon campsites that would usually spawn several munitions crates like on Navezgane. But, as stated before, random gen cities spawn these crates in police stations.
2. Cities can be brutal. Tons of zeds spawning all over the place, all around you. I don't consider this a downside but to each his own. I get an adrenaline rush everytime I go to one of these cities. 44 Magnum all the way! You gotta take lots of ammo and sledges and kill, kill, kill before you get distracted with looting. If this feels tedious then these cities would probably bother you.

If you've played Navezgane already then give random gen a shot.

Cheers

Edit: forgot to mention the walking, which you will do a lot of on random gen, as stated by the previous poster...I'm sure you already know this, but you will need to kill yourself a lot to get back home if you go out on longs treks and don't want to walk all the way back!

I like the walking...it adds to the emmersion!!! But with the giant map how is the food situation? The only problem I can forsee, is having a strong enough food supply to actually take a long walk. Primarily I'm speaking of Wildlife.

I haven't started my new game yet, but will probably start this evening.

Only been playing Random since it came out but did like Navezgane. Wish they'd make a medium and large version of it since original is kinda small.

No problem at all finding animals to kill on random gen. They spawn everywhere just like the zeds.

I might give this a spin!

Nav makes a good tutorial map, gives you help with finding specific areas and places to loot and gather, random is more of a 'there ya go, feck off and try not to die' adventure.

random all the way, the amount of different places generated is the best, giant piller islands in huge lakes, large cliff faces, hidden ponds, all kinds of randomly generated landscape, i too have taken a spread out aproach, i have my farm and mine on and below a small pond sunken in the ground, then my 7th nigth horde fortress is on a nearby hill overlooking the mines/farm, and there is no surface entrance nearby, the places are connected thru the mines and the entrance to the whole shebang is set in a recessed cliff face at the end of a skinny land bridge in the middle of a large lake a good distance away from it all. in other words, there are no nearby outter doors for zeds or players to bash down, they must find the secret entrance, then navigate the mines to get in, or try bashing down the walls, and all my walls are made from the new cobblestone reinforced metal whatever walls lol (i forgot the name) the one with 16 dura X3 on eatch phase.
