Secure Skylight - Farm Compatible?
I was reading up on the wiki about farming, and they mentioned a secure skyllight for when you are doing a deep underground farm and such... what materials can you place over plants and have them still grow? I've tested metal trussing, which is fairly transparent, and nothing will grow under it...

Can anyone explain this in a bit more detail???

I have a Deep Underground Base (BedRock)... I want to start a farm, but when I was reading about farming (much as the OP stated); it said that Underground farming needs a SkyLight. Does this mean a light from the surface; or as stated above to simply place Glass (or something above your plants)???

In short... is it possible to have a Farm located all the way down to BedRock (and Import the need soil)???

Advanced thanx for any/all help.

You might want to give up on farming for now until the next patch. For some reason, crops, with plenty of water and sunlight, take forever to grow. I'm 15 days into the game, started the farm on the 9th day, and everything except for the blueberries are still in their infant stages (stage 2).
Maybe the devs wanted farming to be more realistic, or maybe this is a bug, but farming, as of now, is not worth it unless you're going to have a farm bigger than 10X5.... 30X15 might be a better choice.

metal trussing will act like a roof but windows will allow lights to get into your plants and let them grow

In 9.1 a single square of light allowed a 5x5 area to grow. Not sure about 9.2 since I'm still on first day.

in 9.2 farming takes about 3 times as long. maybe more

Even longer if you wander too far away from the farm. For some reason, crops won't grow if you're out of their general area, so those 3 days could turn into 12-20, depending on how much time you spend out of base.

Are you guys able to farm at all? Before anything but blueberries is able to grow, all my plants are exploded and grass is regrown in its place...

I'm able to get stuff planted without it getting uprooted from grass, but that's because I build my farms in a similar way to this guide.

The only difference is that I make my farms elevated so nothing can walk on the crops.

You can't see it very well, but the garden is to the right, in the background.
