Food draining 1 every 4 seconds even when standing still?!
I noticed when playing on my friend's server, no mods, all vanilla files, Navezgane, day like 230 something - I noticed the last like 40 or so days my food will start draining 1 every 4 seconds or so, even when standing still. Thought it might be because didn't have proper clothing for biome, but that wasn't it. I seemed to have deduced it down to it doing it only when my health isn't 100% full. I don't remember this happening before especially the early stages of our game, and I even now have some of the perks where food + water is supposed to drain less with exertion & whatnot.

Water seems to stay normal, but after like 4-5 in game hours, I could be doing nothing, my food is almost empty, (it seems only when health isn't 100% tho.) This happens in any biome.

Is this a glitch, or how it's supposed to be?

If I understand your explanation correctly, it is indeed intended.

Healing (automagically) consumes 'food' to do so.

health regeneration consumes food. if you have the health regen perk it will heal faster and thus consume food faster.

The Iron Gut perk slows food using from EXERTION. Standing still is not exertion, so Iron Gut does not affect the rate of food usage for healing.

Sounds like the effects of Healing Factor to me.

after 200 hours played, the only food i eat now is glass. Thats not even a joke either

in fact i use glass to cure most status effects

All comments above are right. The glass eating comment was even right but IMO it kills the fun over time to evade all things by dying.

And I think it's a wonderful survival mechanic as the more you fight (exertion) and get hurt (healing factor) the more food you'll need to keep your health up. It then gives you motivation to learn to cook higher quality food and drinks and to farm/hunt.

Easy to survive without eating glass.... just follow these steps:
1) Always place a point into Master Chef unless you're somehow lucky enough to find the bacon and eggs recipe during the first two days.
2) In the beginning stop for any bird nests or chickens for the bacon and eggs meal. Rabbits are tougher but kill them as well if you're not carrying lots of items.
3) Use your bone knife to pickup the animal scraps in the streets... it gives animal fat and even from a small town all that animal fat will feed you for about two days.
4) Choose the digging quests since the rewards involve food and pickup eggs when heading towards the quest and returning from the quest.
5) If you need food then focus on the restaurants and fast food places.
6) By the end of the first day you should be able to either build a forge allowing you to make a cooking pot or you should have found a cooking pot. If this doesn't happen then you've either had bad luck or did not choose the correct buildings to visit.
7) If somehow you're still struggling then buy the canned food from vending machines which will provide you the food to survive another day. One good canned food can provide 15 for your food bar for only 60 casino tokens.

GOAL: This will prevent you from needing to eat glass.
