7 Days to Die
Whats base design meta now?
Played Survivalist. Set up day 7 horde in the mausoleum lol.

Had the usual gathering of medium and low level weapons, and cobblestone to bolster the front entrance and church door.

The Zs smashed through the front entrance in a minute and flooded through the hatch blocked church openings even though i has a bar across the top part supposed to stop crawling through.

I couldnt get the stam to swing weapons fast enough to kill multiple direwolves. My guns were all low level and I couldnt reload fast enough to keep them from degrading the blocks. And they broke through the cobblestone quickly. And then one Z got through in to the inner church room, wasted 2 mags killing him. He kills me then promptly dies after I do. Block dmg is set to the usual 100%.

Are we supposed to go back to the old stilt bases? Cause a Day 7 raid is NOT supposed to hit that hard lol :P I been playing this game since almost Alpha release.

Since early in the game, I have NEVER even at insane, been defeated that quickly or badly lol. But I also did notice in a few quest losses, one feral will egt o me, and I cant keep them off till I die....and then they die about 1s after.

This a bug too?

I had selected for a lower Z count too lol. This felt like an Insane level game with the dmg. I guess the devs scaled the game differently?

What's your gamestage? Is exp at 100%?

Multiple direwolves is an extreme threat and you aren't going to see that kind of stuff for many many weeks. At that point you would have plenty of concrete/steel for base defense instead of cobblestone. Something here isn't adding up.

There's no way the first blood moon is giving you direwolves.
Yeah, there is.

The earliest dire wolves will show up is game stage 40. Not easy to reach but absolutely doable, particularly if the OP wasn't in the Pine Forest.

The solo game stage calculation is: (days_alive + player_level + biome_mod) * 1.2

In the Pine Forest on Day 7 (6 days alive) you'd need to be level 27 to see a dire wolf. But in the desert or burned forest you'd only need to be level 17 and as low as level 7 in the snow.

That said, 1.2 added game stage scaling for the Blood Moon Count setting. If you are playing with 32 or 64 zombies during the blood moon your game stage will be increased by up to 1.68 times on top of the normal calculation.

Okay so i'll ask again OP: What's your game stage, your day length, your level and what biome are you in?

If you're getting direwolves so early, then it's because of your choices/settings. If you aren't prepared for that kind of smoke then you should be dialing things back or staying longer in the easier biomes.
Early game, when I am still at the level of cobblestone tech, I stick with doing horde night on top of a building made of concrete, with the stairs and ladders hacked out. And just use a pipe rifle for some plinking enjoyment. Easy, takes minutes to prepare, 100% effective.

Was in pine forest, day 7, 120m days, level 26-27 (which may explain why I saw them come raid time up above), Survivalist. I forgot the GS cause I got mad and erased the game bahah!

It wasnt MULTIPLE dire wolves (I was kind of dramatic and feeling crabby after losing) at once, but I was seeing maybe 2 at a time along with the swarm. I think I killed perhaps 2 of them, and the rest chewed away at the door. Those things are absolute bullet sponges.

I certainly wasnt prepared. The numbers for the lower Zs in Blood Moon wasnt what I had asked for at least.

Home base build ideas.
Actual safe base
Underground bases still useless?

Thank you! I need to find something better. A ground floor base from a POI is NOT going to cut it next time lol.
They always target doors..., also they get pissed off if you damage buildings in a city...
Build a base .. no problem..
Start smashing predefined ♥♥♥♥ up & they come for you.
if ur using buildings like this , always throw some ladders on the walls..
Climb up to recover your stamina. & either bow them or use a touched weapon to get fire damage... but yep... it's gonna take a while to kill them.

I busted the bar with the bears in as a low level player..., tried out running them, eventually found a gated fence and hung them up for a while.. but those damned things chased me for ages... Just don't try to go head to head with hte wild life as a low level player , you will loose.

nar... i have had them long before L40, it depends how aggressive you are and what areas you visit.
like on one map, all 4 zones come down to a narrow point along the edge of the base zone
so you can get a points boost on visit every area fairly early in the game.
this also seems to force the hordes, way earlier & 2-3 screamers at once, which with low stamina is a pain.
Since i put most of my initial points into mining, so i can level up fast at night just by digging..

This hasn't been the case since at least Alpha 19. When was it they became structural engineers?
Zeds have no targets for doors or hatches anymore, and haven't for a while. It's the path of least resistance.

Game stage 40, not level 40. And the discussion was about Blood Moons, not general spawning.

Dire Wolves are not included in the spawn groups for blood moons until your game stage reaches 40.

good base is no base.

no wall, just plain floor with chest. zombie wont touch the chest unless you make it 2 block tall
Far as I can remember, you're not supposed to make your main base your horde base. Technically you can if you want, but you risk losing a lot other than just your life.

A stilt design is still the most consistent horde base for blood moons. Bottleneck them on a narrow elevated path and gun them down. If they fall, they'll have to run back up to try again.

Kk I'll do that. Those were my old designs but saw Glock and others do a 7 day main and horde base and it went NOTHING like that lol.

Just cranky I got my butt kicked faster than expected lol. Also, for T1 ot T3 quests, seeing quite a few ferals. Is that new? In forest biomes, those used to be rare till T4 and up quests.

Ferals spawn based on game state if I recall. Depending on how you have your exp settings, you could be advancing extremely quickly and ramping up the game state faster than expected.

Also, are you running infested missions? Infested missions also greatly increase game state during it which means seeing more ferals in POIs.
