how does this game STILL not have cloud save?
its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous, had to repair windows, and in the process lost all my save files. the game has been out for over a decade, its 2025, and they STILL dont have ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cloud save, i shouldn't have to find out if every single game i play requires a manual backup with the saves themselves being in some hidden folder somewhere on my pc just so i don't lose hours and hours of progress because the devs are too lazy to set up what even single person dev teams are doing.

edit: ive seen the current posts on cloud saves, if its this much of a problem then it should be more of a priority than whatever useless crap they're changing or adding currently. cloud saves have a 100GB limit per person per game, if your cloud saves are somehow going over that then you have a very big optimisation issue that needs fixing (besides the entire game that needs optimising)

You are obviously aware of this happening with several games (and not just 7 days), and yet you still never learned?

It would be much easier (or less 'lazy' as you put it) for the end-user to learn to how the game files are structured and which OS folder each game uses to store important data so that you can know which files to back up just in case ♥♥♥♥ happens. You obviously don't do this with games, and that's a not anyone elses fault but your own.

You are obviously aware of this happening with several games (and not just 7 days), and yet you still never learned?

It would be much easier (or less 'lazy' as you put it) for the end-user to learn to how the game files are structured and which OS folder each game uses to store important data so that you can know which files to back up just in case ♥♥♥♥ happens. clearly you don't know how to read. ive only had this problem with 2 games, 1 being a tiny indie game, which is no excuse for a game of this size. it's much more time efficient and just pure quality of life for the dev to have it enabled, i should not have to go through each game and find out if they have cloud save or not, then back it up when im doing any sort of software repairs or absolutely anything that may ♥♥♥♥ with the games saves.

in no world is it easier and less lazy for each and every single user to figure out if the game has cloud save and act accordingly, than to have 1 developer enable cloud save once that will then work for everyone.

I can read. And read your post clearly. It was YOU who didn't clearly state what they meant since you made a very vague statement with..... "every single game i play". Which is a YOU problem.

7 days is not your biggest issue here. Steam is.... whether you realize it or not.

Again, learn how games work with steam first and then make your choice on whether or not you should buy the game. This is also a YOU problem.

If you only wanna play games with steam cloud because you are too lazy to take the time learn anything else, then only buy games with steam cloud enabled. It's that simple.

On the store page for every game on Steam it will list Steam Cloud under the features if a game supports it. For this game, Steam Cloud is not listed.

"figuring out if a game has cloud save" is literally a single glance at the features list before you buy a game.

Most solo world saves would be well under the max limit, but there is also a max file size that is much lower than the total. The game probably could break up save files into smaller files to get around that, but I have to think changing that would require much more work on the developers part than simply looking at the features before buying the game and since there doesn't seem to be a huge demand for cloud saves there probably wouldn't be much reason for the devs to do that.

Just going to add some advice here: don't trust "cloud" everything for your fail-safe situation. Act as if NO games have any form of cloud saving. I've set up an automation backup for saves folders on all my games. I've had situations of "cloud saves" even screwing up. Don't take that 100% for granted.

Yes cloud saves are nice, but do not have that be the end-all-be-all.

Also there's a literal tag of "Steam Cloud" on the store page....

I'd love to know where OP got "100GB limit per person per game". The sheer amount of storage needed to support that is staggering.

According to the almight Googs, it is 1GB per account. Das it.

It will NEVER have Cloud Save! Not unless they completely revamp how and what the game saves while playing. As it is, there is too much data being saved--being too large of a save data set to upload to the cloud. That will always be the case unless Steam changes their Cloud Save data limits to a noticeably higher setting... from 1 GB to 10 GB for example. Even then, this game may not be able to upload cuz, the bigger the map, the more you change, the longer you play, the larger the save data set becomes. Theoretically, it could grow above that 10GB even... although I've never seen that to be the case in my experience. I don't play a long time in one save / version of the game though.

And, secondly, Cloud Saves are very unreliable in my experience... at least, with some games. It's the reason I turn off that Feature in Steam Settings--Globally. NONE of my games have that feature enabled. I just wish I could purge Steam of all those saves it uploaded before I eventually disabled that feature. Cuz, it resets to default (On) every time I have to re-install the client. Anyway, I always do manual backups for any game save I want to preserve. In fact, I have a Hard Drive just for the purpose of Backing up Data--to include game saves and mods.
Been backing up my own saves the 2nd day i got a pc in 95ish. Love how most people today don't have a problem giving up access / right to their saves just like their games.

Lol this is a procedurally generated based game, do you expect steam to give you free unlimited storage ? A well explored map could hit more than 10go. You was aware that the game didnt have cloud storage and still wiped your local save folder in appdata. It's a you problem
I still use my cassette drive from my Atari. I think it's saving, it's just a bit slow.

Can you please show where steam is providing totally free cloud storage for 100gb per game.
