It's "only" 10 bucks to consumers like you or me. That doesn't negate the fact that this is a reskinned fomo based mtx (regardless of who the money is going to).
The liveable income argument doesn't really work since you have to be partnered and people just go to the first listed streams (which are streamers that are well above the living income bracket you're describing).
I get your good faith argument but it doesn't really do anything for the consumer or for streamers that this actually makes a difference to. Not to mention twitchs cut of a gift sub, nearly half of that sub isn't even going to the streamer anyway.
In the grand scheme of things this stuff doesn't really matter, but people said the same thing about horse armour dlc and here we are lmao.
Did you just Tell US How to Spend OUR Money???
Chill TF out Dude, it's just a Game and it is NOT YOUR MONEY...
Twitch Drops:
* Are Totally Optional
* Don't impact the play-ability of the Base Game
* Don't impact anyone but the Buyers (and, slightly, the Twitch Streamers)
* Whether any Steamers Participate or Not, Participation is THEIR CHOICE
* FOMO Issue or Not, it's still your choice to buy them or NOT
I Didn't tell you how to spend your money, I'm raising a point that numerous developers have had a track record of milking their consumer base.
Ay they are optional but it sets a bad precendent. i.E As I mentioned above, Oblivion Horse armour DLC all over again.
Am I the only one in this thread old enough to remember that wtf is going on here.
Welcome to the Gaming Industry?!?
It's not gunna change. In fact, it's gunna get Worse.
"The Only Way to Win is Not to Play" (or buy DLC skins)...
However, as long as the 2-3% of Whales Pay Thousands (yes, Thousands), it's here to stay.
I don't like it either, but Screaming into The Void isn't gonna make 'em stop.
Welp, I agree with all of that.
Tho screaming into the void can be good for mental health.
No, I'm old enough to remember when you paid for a game and that was that. I'm also old enough (way more than old enough) to remember when charging non-trivial amounts of real money for ingame decoration was considered radical and unethical.
But those days are gone. Now it's normal and it's also normal to only be allowed to play a game you paid for if you can connect to the controlling server and receive permission to be allowed to play from whoever owns the game (because your payment no longer even entitles you to play the game you paid for).
Well, I had No Idea I had So Much Powah...
If you'd like to contribute to my GoFundMe drive, I'll take care of this right away...
Yeah I geddit. It's not the end of the world. But it's getting progressively worse and it does bother some people which I think it's gonna be the main issue.
Enshrouded at least did the twitch drops (the second round at least) in a decent way, you watch the stream and get the items early, or play the game and get it eventually.
Too many games are going for the watch 4 hours + buy some subs route and boy does it not feel great. A lot of gamers have grown up with this stuff so I guess they don't realise how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the industry used to be in comparison.
You have an OnlyFans? ;)
Yeah, THEN I'd be in the Hague for Crimes Against Humanity. O, The Horror...
