is there a best map to play?
i'm just getting a grip for this game i started with default setting navezgane, cause it is the default, but researching in the internet people seem to like other maps better, random generated maps. I do think every quest the trader shows to me are very far.

Is it worth to start again in another map? which one? why?

Well, it's all up to you, if you like playing the default maps (Navezgane/Pregens etc) then go ahead.
Personally like to use the map generator and generate a new map for each new game, that way each playthrough is at least somewhat unique and harder to cheese since have no idea where the materials etc spawn, where the best loot POIs, traders or biomes are and so on.
Also never been a fan of Navezgane, it's nice but a bit denser maps are more for my taste. More POIs to loot, more big cities to explore and more zombies to kill.
But like said, it's all up to you, it's an open sandbox game and you are free to do what ever you want and play which ever way you like. :)
I'd still recommend toying with the map generator a bit, it's pretty nice and some mods require you to generate new maps anyway so if you ever want to try modding it's good to know how the generator works.
No. "Best" is whatever your personal preference is.

Navezgane is the basic map. Will have the story eventually. Is pretty easy for beginners.
The Pre-generated RWG's exist mostly for computers/consoles with low-end specs that will have trouble creating their own RWG maps.

RWG maps is what most people prefer. You can customize it to your liking.
Navezgane is a good map to play early on when you're getting a feel for the game. It's not so large that it's intimidating with its size, you can pretty quickly visit all the biomes, and there's a decent distribution of traders. I think most players move on from Navezgane pretty quickly once they're familiar with the game.

I've found that I like the larger pregen maps, because there's a lot to explore, there's a diversity of terrain and lots of scenery, and a good distribution of large POI's and traders. Decide what size map you want to play on, then try out the different pregen maps, maybe you'll find one that you like.

Each player has their own preferred play style, so no one map is going to suit everyone. Do you like larger cities? Do you like lots of traders scattered around the map, or only a few? Maybe you like wide open spaces and a lot of smaller wilderness POI's. For myself, I like mountains and lots of lakes. I visit the big cities occasionally, but I prefer the smaller clusters of POI's.

There really isn't a "one size fits all" for this game. I suggest trying out the pregen maps, maybe you'll find one or two that you really like. If not, decide what features you really want on your map, and generate your own. IMHO, discovery is one of the great joys of this game.
The map you like the most. That's the one to play.

Like the others wrote there is no best map.
You can adjust most things in game or in some ini files to adjust the map creation process in many ways (e.g. one incredible large city map, complete map snow, no towns in the forest but huge mountains, .... )

You can create a default random map, donwload a map from several sources like nexus or check guides how to adjust the rwg map process as much as you want.
This is my guide for it:

I agree with the others, there is no best map and it's basically all down to personal preferences.

I prefer making new random generated maps for every new game that I start so I don't know where everything is going to be.

thank you, i think i'll continue with my game in my save file, when i want to play all over again i'll random generate it to see what it is about
I just gave a custom map of Ireland a try. I like the implimentation.
I like to RandomGen to make a map that is wasteland center, minimal forest, and increasing wasteland, desert, and snow. Since all players spawn in the forest, a small forest size concentrates everyone together rather than having many kilometers of distance to travel before grouping.

There's a really cool New York map that I've been playing on. You have to go download it though. It's kind of a tougher map though by default because of the layout of the biomes.

It's a tough map to run also, performance-wise, very PC intensive.

When one has started as many new games as I have and trust me it is a LOT, then any map I choose is a good`ern lol. Played the wheels off this game and will be here for maybe another 11 k hours. I started close to day one. Sylen used to? keep a running tab of great maps from a yearly run of collected maps, or seeds as I`ve always deemed them. Map, seed, either gets you to the fun place :-) But imo, rng is the way to go and or tweaking the gen for desired biome/s. Cheers
The best maps are giant city maps. Lots of missions for everything if trader is on the outskirts.

Horses for Courses, mate. There are a fair few players that don't do quests or use traders.
