Would I enjoy the game in its current stage?
to give a general Idea, I have played the game for quite a long period of time. most of that time was the Modded version called Undead legacy.
I love about that one, how much more complicated but also more realistic it gets to actually equire resources and make things as well as leveling up. The hud was also way better imo.

Now I read many disambiguous things. some people say the full release made it better, others say it made it worse, that it is way easier now and that the sandbox aspect, Which is why I love this game in the first place, is gone as well.
others say that is wrong.

So before I jump into the game again without it being what I liked about it, I thought I should ask the community what they think.

Just try it and tell us what you think. You should be able to come to a decision within 30 minutes. Also Undead Legacy is still being updated and I believe is expected soon with a version that works with 1.x 7 Days to Die so there's that to look forward to as well.
depends on how long since u played, but not much changed with the release. game has gotten more "arcadey" and uuh "streamlined" over the years

What do you expect, those who like it atm will mostly say yes, those who don't will mostly say no.

You already own the game, nothing can beat trying it yourself.

I like the game, but I won't pretend to know if you would like it or not. To each their own.

HM, so I tried it. I will probably have more fun with it, but I will wait for Undead legacy. In itself I think with how it is right now, 7D2D can compete with other zombie survival games out there. it still has its own humor and fun in it. Guess it is just my personal preference to have a bit of a harder experience.

Nope... after 30 hours, everything repeats itself.
It's boring at the moment, as Raymond Reddington said.
I'd say it's the passage of time... and after 1,000+ years... it's more likely worth 9.99... lira or IDR. a thousend of ....
It's a joke, and the developers are in a gold rush mood.

dont buy!!!!!!!!

You might like to try other overhaul mods while you wait for the Undead Legacy dev to finish their new version. They're doing a lot with it, more than just making the existing version of the mod compatible with the latest version of the base game. It'll take a while.

I like Craft Until You Die. That mod has more complex crafting than vanilla. Much more complex. It might appeal to you.

Joke Mod might appeal as a light-hearted interlude while you wait for UL. Despite the name, it's not just a joke. It's a fully fledged, fully implemented overhaul mod. And a joke. Many jokes. All of them gloriously bad.

Or if you want a harder experience, there's always the notoriously hard ones - Darkness Falls and War3zUK AIO. The former scales way higher in difficulty than vanilla and the latter starts way higher in difficulty than vanilla. Different approaches, leading to different games. I like both of them. They're also both more complicated than vanilla.

Try the Rebirth overahaui mod. I just started it, so far it´s nice. It has a learning curve, more than other mods i think though.

What i really like about it so far is the Purge mode. You need to kill a certain number of zombies and clear a certain number of POI´s before you can progress to the next biome. (You can go there before doing that, you won´t live very long though)

And as said above if you like a bit of fun, try the JokeMod. Not only does it have jokes everywhere, and yes they are gloriously bad, you can also add quite the challenge if you want and use the flares you find. Also you can build a rocket that you can fly out of cardboard. It´s amazing.

Darkness Falls is never the wrong choice either imo.

Depends. Do you like a 7 days to die that is just grind, and nothing but grind? (A21+) OR do you like a 7 days to die that's more chill, and a sandbox experience (A20 or before). I like A20 more because while it is objectively speaking easier, that's only if you set the settings to something like Nomad, and if you want the game to be harder while enjoying quality of life features like being able to drink glass jars and retain them, then A20 would be your pick. The biggest problem is what they did with the magazine system, A16, if you remember was a learn by doing system. A20 is a hybrid, where you need to find M60, Auger, Steel tool schematics, etc. While you can get the rest of the schematics through xp by leveling up. A20 is the most fair, you got some grind, but it's not for Every. Single. Schematic. Now they are called "magazines". You need 100 magazines to make a level 5 tool or weapon. It's so bad that you need 100 of these magazines for a forge, 100 for an iron tool... you just end up constantly having to loot bookstores for the entire game. It took me about 60 hours give or take in A20 to get every schematic I needed. While in A21, only God knows how long that'd take. To my understanding, you basically need to find the equivalent of 100 schematics just to get one so to speak. So if it takes 60 hours in A20... Yeah you aren't ever getting a perfect run. There are mods like Darkness Fall that I've heard puts a learn by doing system, and undoes some of the screwed up changes that A21+ made.
The Sandbox experience is completely GONE in A21+, you are correct about that. If you truly love the sandbox experience as much as I do, I highly recommenced either playing Alpha 20 Or play Darkness Falls mod to unscrew the A21+ changes.

Thanks for all the time you took answering me. that really helps out a lot.
The magazine system really is kind of annoying at some point. That is why I like Undead legacy so much, it is really well balanced, letting you research stuff so well.

You can. I did. Once. I usually play at least 1 vanilla game with each new alpha.

It took a very long time and it was tedious. I did it because I'm stubborn. Or maybe fixated. If I set myself a goal in a game I will do it. However long it takes.

There is something worse in terms of grind. The mining challenge. You will need to mine for days. And I mean RL days, not game days. Yeah, I did that too.

I mean, that's literally what I did, lol.^^
It's kinda split for me. Maybe more towards how it used to be. I really miss all the clothing options. But I don't miss the hot/cold system. The armor perk system is neat, but would really like a glamour system and a pants slot. Spawning near the backpack is useful, but I've had to disable keeping items to actually force me to go back to base. There are others but those are the ones that come to mind first.

All in all, they made it more arcadey than survival and I don't necessarily hate it. The way they're going, it wouldn't surprise me if they remove thirst/hunger and replace it with a timed buff.
