2. Play with increasingly difficult ingame settings, like permadeath.
3. Small mods.
4. Overhaul mods.
If all else fail, play something else and maybe come back later if you feel like it.
Hey now, don't lump all of us boomers as wet blankets that like to whine about trivial ♥♥♥♥ on the internet.
This boomer (me) loves 7DTD. Sure it has it's flaws, but TFP saw fit to make it extremely moddable.
+1.
It's a great game. I've been playing it since shortly after launch. The game has changed, but overall it's great game. Newer people seem to just endlessly focus on nothing but negative things. It seems to be their default mode.
Me personally I also feel guilty playing this game. I paid something like 11 dollars for this way way way back in the day, and I haven't had to pay anything else since then. 11 dollars for 10 years of enjoyment? LOL. I wish I had that kind of return on other things.
Fill entire building with wooden spikes...check
Place the ghost zombies that can't be shot you find in creative mode in POI's..check
I miss the multiplayer servers that left creative mode on.

Maybe invest a few more couple of thousand dollars in math lessons?
Plus, don't worry to come back after years only to be met with completely new features you haven't seen before, that doesn't happen with this game.
