Fix up a van or a cube van for much larger carrying capacity. Fix up a compact car for better fuel mileage but less storage space. Add a side car to a motorcycle, maybe with a mounted weapon, so one more person can be a passenger and shoot at threats. That would open up loads of options. Maybe fix up a camping trailer and haul it with a pickup or the 4x4 and have a small mobile base with moderate fuel consumption when moving it around, or a semi with trailer for a large mobile base but with massive fuel consumption.
Because for realistic players wont make sense we can learn to drive all vehicles from thin air.
And for pure survivalists, driving an helicopter or why not, a tank means.. wtf?
So, the power fantasy maybe will satisfy all, like crazy vehicles fuelled my zombie labour... like small chassis with 2 big wheels and inside a pair of zeds running like mad, or a throne stuck with 2 poles and 2 zeds on each pole transporting players around.
We don't need those things. You don't speak for me and you don't have the authority to tell me what I need.
Wanting them is a different matter. And anyone who wants them can install a mod for them. There's no point asking for them in vanilla. The devs make their own game. They're not in these forums anyway.
I think there's scope for more vehicles and it would be an addition to the game. Probably in the form of repairable vehicles, which is how some mods implement it. There are plenty of vehicles in the gameworld and it's plausible for some of them to be repairable. Maybe even a few that are driveable already, abandoned in the apocalypse but still functional. With other being repairable if you have the right parts. Which you could salvage from other vehicles. Or loot from a suitable POI. Passing Gas POIs, for example. Or a Passing Gas crate.
Some vehicles could be much rarer than others. Working Stiff van, sure. Lots of those about. Good for storage space. A helicopter? Not so much. Maybe if you fight your way through a military base. But they'd be much harder to repair, too. Much more complicated and parts are far less common. You wouldn't find helicopter parts in a Passing Gas POI.
There's scope for other options, including more early game options. A tricycle rickshaw. Much more storage than a bicycle, but slower and less nimble and uses more stamina. A handcart. Good for storage, very slow. But very easy to make. Or animals could be added. A riding horse. Fast, but not much storage. Pack mule. Not so fast, more storage. Oxcart. Slow but a lot of storage.
But the real answer is that anyone who wants more vehicles will need to use a mod to get them. Modders are the icing on the 7DTD cake.
Are you going to create a mod to add all those vehicles?
I'd recommend you just spend your time creating the mod, and very little time polling the peanut gallery here in steam forums. You'll get told to go in 100 different directions.
Agreed. They aren't necessary at all, but as I said above I wouldn't complain if they added a bit more vehicle variety to the vanilla game.
Yep, definitely an option to use mods but there is a point in asking for them in vanilla just like there's a point to asking for anything else we might want to see in vanilla.
I find the mods that add repairable vehicles much more immersive than crafting a 4x4 from steel ingots, an engine and some wheels. I won't be expecting anything like that from TfP, who took away assembling things from vehicle and gun parts.
this is a game meant for fun and some people make fun for their self at least i do.
2. At this point in the dev process, you'll get this from mods, not in vanilla.
3. I agree it's absolutely not a "need" but a "want".
1. Yes, the devs. really don't hang around here.
2. Yes again, most likely this won't happen in vanilla but you can absolutely ask.
3. 100%.
