Does your friend have admin command knowledge. He could be messing around.
I think if your days are pretty long, zombies are weak, and you have xp jacked up really high, you "could" have this happen...
What is your player levels? What was your kill count before the horde?
XP gain was standard, Days set to 90 minutes, and 64 max spawn on blood moons the only thing I can't vouch for currently is difficulty, It should be default but that's not to say it could be higher.
We were not near any 4 skull of greater places in fact we build just outside of town near Trader Bob. We are around level 26/27. Prior to that I have died on day 2 or 3 and he had 3 back to back deaths in the snow biome hunting bears for leather.
Kill counts were around 500 zombies each (we were within 25 kills of each other*
We both have well over 1000 hours of game time but this was weird. Everything we have done was the same as every other run we have done in previous versions. We spend the first 6 days going hard on doing quests after meeting up with each other on day 1, and usually unlock Trader Bob early Day 7. We spend about 10 in game hours building a horde base that utilises a long ramp that gets to 7 blocks in height with jump obstacles barbed wire and .05 pole to a 5x5 fighting platform that is also 7 blocks high.
I have a feeling we touched the multiplayer combined limit for them to spawn. I am also wondering if there was undocumented changes in the back end of 1.2 or 1.1 that might of caused this such as a sneaky change to bring them in earlier than Game Stage 147.
Last time we played was 1.0
Edit, Fix trader to Bob (the vehicle guy) not Jen. For some reason all traders are Jens in my head. Thanks Nerevar for pointing out that stuff up :)
If I remember correctly, for blood moons the game uses all nearby players' game stages even if you aren't teamed up.
For everyone that hasn't tried 1.2 yet & could normally take on an Infested Clear quest early on without any troubles, try to one now when you see one and judge for yourself. My first try I was bombarded with multiple ferals & special zombies (spiders, cops, etc.) on top of the numerous normal zombies before I bit the dust.
As far as blood moons go though, I haven't really noticed much changes during my first week, but the second blood moon I was already getting cop zombies just playing solo, Warrior difficulty, level 30 & in the forest biome next to trader Rekt. Not to mention I had dire wolves as well, but I expected them because I had them spawning back in V1.0 & V1.1.
I'm not complaining about it though, but it was surprising to see the new changes.
Yet again, this was Day 4. I strongly suggest investing in spike traps.
demos can spawn earlier now than in 1.0 but i dont know the precise gamestage value yet as i am not bothering with the game much rn until the actual update arrives and readds weather effects finally.
gamestage only increases by amount of days passed (no matter how long the day is) and player levels gained. 1 level + 1 gamestage. and by biome gamestage bonus (only applies in biomes that arent forest biome) which adds a flat value + a multiplier of the total.
there might have been some changes to multiplayer gamestage caculations couldnt test that yet. before in 1.0 only the highest player gamestage in a group was counted for the horde spawns. players gamestages within the area that arent in your party dont affect your horde spawns at all. thats a myth. they get thier own horde spawns which target them and not you (unless you shot them)
but demos arent that big of a deal really. a proper horde base design makes the horde easy regardless of settings. there is still too many unfixed block types which allow the player to trick the AI of the zombies.
a few mentions of the tc make no sense tough. he said it was in the desert next to trader jen. jen isnt in the desert. that would be bob not jen. or it wasnt the desert. no idea whats correct there but something is off.
It does seem like a high game stage for week 1, now that I think about it.
before this change (I haven't played it yet), I would always move to wasteland ASAP to gain an advantage over the others in the server. One reason, no one follows me out there lol. The other reason is higher chance for better loot. The actual loot bags on horde night are better as well. So you do get something for your hard work.
With this change, idk if it's way way out of control? but normally it's a solid strategy early game.
Yep they do that....... there is a few "set" attack patterns, that try to knock you out
the wolf pack is one, then the 3 dire wolf, then a group of 5 screamers pulling in more & more
but the AI is sooo ♥♥♥♥♥... just run up & down a road and directly at the screamers then head shot each one. just watch the police
But I will quit belly aching for a while again. Sorry folks. Just needed to get that off my chest...again.
I agree 100% I also don't believe the devs will allow mods and allow access to old game versions forever. I'm just glad I'm an old player that didn't get suckered into the new pricetag lol. As controlling as they are, no way will they allow it forever.
