Add chickens to Chicken Coop
You cannot see the chickens in the coop at all what a disappointment. You find and can see chickens but as soon as they go in the coop they disappear?!?! I want to see my pets. What a half baked ass update :shit::shit:

Lots of chicken coop related gameplay makes no sense.
For example, zombies don't attack passive animals. They only eat ther carcasses, unless you turn it off. So why suddenly they get such an interest in chickens when player picks them up? Makes no sense. Officially, you have to "defend" them from zombies, so technically they're not after the player.

I got more attention hauling chicken for 10 meters than clearing tier 4 POI with firearms without silencers.

Also - chicken wings giving infection immunity? The entire apocalypse could be waited out in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ KFC until it blew over.
The chicken capture mechanism is the worse thing I've ever experienced in this game, BY FAR.
Nearly impossible to catch, meter runs up almost instantly, spawns zombies every few meters, and summons a horde if you get the meter up too high.

This seems to be IMPOSSIBLE to achieve as a solo player.
USELESS!
But what do I expect from TFP...no fun allowed.
You know who would though that they add Chicken idea from abusing chicken that end getting attack by army of chicken similar to Zelda games.
I take it more as the zombies being attracted to the loud noise. And yeah, it is weird that zombies don't attack passive animals, but that would probably get annoying fast, if every time you see a deer, you not only have to worry about not startling it, but also that there aren't any zombies nearby to started it as well. Hopefully they will add the option for zombies to attack passive animals in the sandbox at some point for those who prefer the immersion.

And it's definitely not impossible to catch and tame chickens as a solo player, it's just pretty annoying. It helps to already have a coop nearby, so you don't need to take them as far. Sneaking doesn't raise their stress, and they actually tend to slowly chill out while you're sneaking, so it can be a good way to avoid being engaged by zombies while trying to carry your chicken back to the coop. Mind you it can take a while, depending on the distance.

Wings preventing infection is weird, but it has honey as an ingredient, so having some kind of infection counter makes sense. And it provides an alternative to vitamins for this effect, which you can't craft.

I stand corrected, on my 2nd attempt catching a chicken I saw a zombie actively attacking a non-injured chicken *exclaimation points*

So yeah...it's messed up. I haven't seen them fighting deer though...

Anyways, I ended up nerfing the chicken stress event toggle in Sandbox and was able to finally get a chicken home to start my coup.

A common retcon explaining infection in 7DTD is that the infection in the game isn't the zombie-causing infection. An infection that can be cured by honey, some common plants or any antibiotic probably wouldn't have been civilisation-ending. In that retcon, the player character is immune to the zombie-causing infection and the infection ingame is a generic term to cover any infection of a wound. Which would be a legit concern in a post-apocalypse scenario.

This explanation does not relate to the gameplay whatsoever.
Firstly, players only get infected upon being hit by a zombie. The official wiki states that animal hits may also result in infection, but gameplay-wise it only refers to zombified animals. If the game infection meant common infection, risk of getting it should be implemented in other damage receiving encounters such as walking into traps.
Secondly, infection icon is biohazard. Yes, you might say it's obvious for obvious reasons but come on, it's not only a survival game but a zombie survival game.
There is zero evidence suggesting that the player is immune to zombie infection, unless you count dying instead of zombifying, but that is strictly gameplay related, not lore related. If it takes literal years to code bandits, turning players into zombies would take decades.

That being said, some official lore should be implemented.

you absolutely can get an infection from non-zombie animals. The infection in the game is not the zombie virus.

Also yeah the symbol is biohazard... because it's an infection.

Wrong and wrong.
Yea great mechanic , catch chicken 2.5 km from base have to sneak my way through to bring the chicken back , Question cages were not invented in the game that I can craft and install as a mod onto my Motorcycle or truck to transport the chicken, and YOU HAVE TO do this 2 times ........................ F....!!!!

In earlier versions they chased and attacked all animals.

I don't think that's the case anymore.

???? I think I'll trust my 8k hours of gameplay over some chump in the forums. You absolutely can get infections from non-zombies no matter how much you try to deny it.

The infection is not the zombie virus. Literally none of the lore states it is the zombie virus.

Statements made without evidence can be dismissed also without evidence, so unless you can back up your claims you'll be ignored.

Infection is implemented through the standard critical hit system, which isn't used by traps. So while it would be realistic for traps that break the skin to result in an infection, that's not how the game mechanics work.

Secondly, infection icon is biohazard. Yes, you might say it's obvious for obvious reasons but come on, it's not only a survival game but a zombie survival game.

The biohazard symbol is routinely used for anything that is (or might be) a biohazard. That's what it's for. It's not a unique symbol specifically only for the zombie pathogen.

There is zero evidence suggesting that the player is immune to zombie infection [..]

A vast pandemic killed almost everyone. More than that. It killed almost all life. Almost all species were vulnerable to it. It's rare for a disease to infect more than one species and usually takes a long time and multiple exposures for it to happen. For a previously unknown disease to suddenly jump to almost all species on Earth would be unprecedented. It would also make the disease spectacularly contagious. This particular disease also seems to have a mortality rate that extremely closely approaches 100% since almost everyone's dead and almost all animals are dead. There's no evidence of humans (or any animal of any species) naturally recovering from the zombie infection. So the existence of survivors is evidence of immunity. The only other internally consistent explanation is that survivors were in very strict isolation facilities, BSL4 sort of thing, and only left them after the zombie pathogen ceased to exist. There's no evidence for that ingame and if it was the case then it would mean that the infection ingame couldn't possibly be the zombie infection anyway.

If you have a better retcon, I'd be interested. I like that sort of thing.
