Iwould say its more like Rust and Dayz with some left for dead and a few other games thrown in. Its staarting to move away from the Minecraft thing...
oh FYI...MineCraft tends to be a dirty word around here
It is a sandbox game after all :)
I'd say the best way to describe 7D2D is it's a zombie survival and exploration game, with mining/crafting elements borrowed from games similar to Minecraft.
It will eventually have story driven aspects to it, with survivor enclaves and quests, but that's not going to be super soon, I think.
It is NOTHING like Rust. Rust is a PvP-only gank fest. There is barely even crafting in Rust, and NO PvE aspect. Don't get me started on Rust. I get so angry when I think about how popular that POS game is.
I am afraid due to it being a voxel game it will not get rid its like minecraft stereotype only similarity IMO are the voxel based desructable enviroment the zombies in minecraft are not a threat except for the buggy and unrealistic baby zombies.. and this thought is coming from a former modded minecraft player... but i can tell you one thing i cannot stand vanillia minecraft... i can stand vanillia 7 days... one thing i hate about minecraft...is java nuff said :P
and we could go as far as say minecraft is like the previous games that inspired the creator of minecraft to create it... hell lets compare all fps to its like wolfenstien 3d :P
let us judge a game by its own merits not compare it to a diffrent game totally
Only reason I can think of for people to hate minecraft is because they put TOO much time into it lol, my only problem with minecraft is that I got sick of it from playing it WAAAAYY too much. I'm trying to pace myself with 7dtd a bit so I'm not done with the game by the time its released
There was crafting before Minecraft, and there were voxel games before Minecraft. Minecraft did a great job of really playing the strengths of those two concepts and it's a great game.
7D2D has crafting, this is true, and some of the concepts of how it works are borrowed from Minecraft, but they have also expanded on those concepts.
I think 7D2D has really expanded on the mining and crafting concepts most strongly with the semi-real physics of materials and load bearing. Never in minecraft did I ever have to think "Have I properly laid in the support beams of a strong enough material to support the second story of my base?" or "I wonder if I'm digging this cave too big. Is it going to collapse?"
There are considerably more differences than just graphics and set up. That's not to say Minecraft is a bad game, it's not. But 7D2D has taken a lot of the gameplay concepts Minecraft used and run farther with them.
Storyline?! what storyline?
