You need to find the book which (when read) teaches you how to make ammo for the weapon you want. They are found in the world when scavenging. :yay:

I read the 44 magnum ammo book and still can't make the tips. or the 44 ammo. is there a book for bullet tips?

@Durrick

<recipe name="44MagBullet" count="1" scrapable="False" craft_time="1" >
<ingredient name="bulletTip" count="1" grid="2, -2"/>
<ingredient name="gunPowder" count="1" grid="1, -1"/>
<ingredient name="gunPowder" count="1" grid="0, 0"/>
<ingredient name="bulletCasing" count="1" grid="-1, 1"/>

you need to learn the other ammo books. the magnumbullet isnt scapable as you see in the recipe list

but you could change the "False" to "True" in your recipe file and it should work

Guys, he's asking about just the bullet tips.

- To make more bullet tips, you use a forge with a bullet tip mold and then lead as material.
- To make the bullet tip mold, you will need 5 lumps of clay and a bullet tip.
- To get a bullet tip for making the mold, you can break down an ammo like the 9mm ammo by placing it where items usually comes out when crafting.

When i'm trying to break down the ammo nothing happens.

Maybe I just need all seven book to learn it?

I think only the 10mm breaks down now... and it is a skill you need to learn

EDIT:...
Nope just checked you can do it with a 9mm or riffle round...
just heard that one around the traps..
but I have read all the books except the magnum one...

You can breakdown 10mm, 9mm and 762. But you need to learn how from a book, I'm not sure but I think it's called something like "ammunition weekly"

All you need to do is place a round (7.62/9mm/10mm, it doesn't matter) in the finished crafting box (you know, the one that all your crafted items go to when they're done. Then it essentially takes the round apart for you rendering all the parts used to build it, it gives you the bullets, gunpowder & casing.

Note: You'll only be able to select one item at a time from the table when doing this, the rest dissappear so use a couple rounds and take a different piece from each. This can be done with any fireaerms in the game so you can make the molds for those as well.

You shouldn't have to learn it from a book unless they changed that since yesterday afternoon, I did it at that time when I started a new map.

If you can't break down the bullet for the tip you read the wrong book. Once you have read the book it works fine as described already in the thread I've done it several times since the update.
