Spike Traps
Has anybody else noticed that the durability on spike traps are pretty awful now. I have it on normal settings and it took almost 3 spike traps for it to get killed.

Someone else mentioned spikes were more easily destroyed lately. It's probably the developers wanting us to work on other kinds of defense and not rely on creating ten thousand spike traps and being forever safe. They have big plans coming up for changes to structures and how we build, so spikes may become a secondary consideration long-run.

They should atlest make it so it doesnt break as soon as the zombies step on it

Wouldn't it be better to nerf the spikes after they implemented those other kinds of defenses?

Guess it'll be trunk tips then. I'm still making baby steps xD

I'm just saying the spike traps break so easily make it a little tougher but not that tough.

I stopped using spikes and trunk tips (other than for decoration) a long time ago. I have instead been using the "layered" defense: Inner wall and outer wall, with a broad killing zone. If you kill them quietly, they don't come back..... I have my game set to maximum spawn, and rarely have to deal with more than 20 or 30 zombies (not counting the huge 100+ mobs of zeds).

But even if a horde comes by, just keep your outer wall 20+ spaces from your working space (forges, campfires, etc) and most of the time they will just walk on by.

Yes, the wood spikes are not only far weaker, they are no longer removable. The trunk tips were always weak, if durable, and the barbed wire fence is still removable but far weaker now: a deer ran right through two, destroyed them and kept on going. It is back to the active defense, i.e. kill them all in hand-to-hand when they get close, although the fact light sources do not slow zombies down now, does not help with that.

I do feel that the spike traps are a bit weak, however the way the gameplay is atm is absolutely amazing. I love the fact that this game has a fairly steep learning curve and the false sense of security that we can create can actually lead to your death. I wish more games were this challenging. I hate to hear people asking for an easier experience in this game but hey, I don't play with you and those decisions are between you and the in-game options.

Back to the spike traps, if they continue along this path of developement, you can imagine that the spike traps are actually used as a primitive early detection system, think fishing lines w/cans on The Walking Dead. I imagine that with the addition of the changes to the building system, we can expect different types of said traps that will need to be used in tandem to create a more secure location. For Example, I could see our awesome devs implementing the option to utilized sharpened pipes for a more durable, dangerous and resource heavy version of the spike trap, i would enjoy that very much. Also the ability to use a hand stake to stake a piece or raw meat or dead rabbit to a tree to offer a small deversion to encourage night missions for single players, true survivalists and communities of players. This could be very handy in pvp where you can bait the outside of someones base all stealth like and cause havoc, food for thought really.

To the Devs, Hello ppls, amazing job on this game, a find this game a nice and refreshing take on the survival genre and this game has exceeded my expectations. Ever since this game launched for Early Access I have had moments when I would think, Wow this game is good but this would be great in this game, A few patches later it's in game. All in all gj.
