Diamond Shaped Terrain
I wish they would have not gone back to the diamond shaped terrain, it looks so damn bad, is glitchy as hell, and hard to manouver with. Because of the diamond terrain you can see through walls which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dumb, ladders sink into the terrain making it to where you can barely see the ladder, you can get stuck way easier in the diamond terrain, and for all intensive purposes looks just awful, and looks very unproffesional.

To make the ladders work, i just put a couple blocks of wood behind where I'm going to place them. I havent encountered the glitch of seeing through walls yet, and how does it look awful? Its a nice change of pace from a bunch of cubes. If you took a couple more minutes to mine, I'm sure you'd like it. At first, i hated terrain smoothing, but now i really like it.

Same here, I am loving going down to my mine because of how nice it looks. I like your idea of placing wood before placing the latters :-). I know the Dev will fix it soon but till then this will come in handy.

I like the old/new terrain, and I don't care about what the ladder or blocks look like at this point. It is Alpha remember. As long as the ladders work I'm fine, because I know they will get fixed to look better in the future. Just stepping stones to a great looking game. Thanks guys for going back to the more natural looking terrain.

You can see thru the walls with every type of terrain they have had, i use this to see other peoples hideouts, just dig small hole and lean into the wall. They need find away to fix that seeing thru the whole world.

If we do not have diamond shaped terrain, we will not get a smooth world. We already have minecraft for the blocky world. There is even a 7 days to die mod for minecraft already....

Eh, all in due time, chances are they'll get rid of the diamond too, something different later. They're just testing different things right now. If you are hating it because ladders kinda disappear then you're an idiot and are too lazy to figure it out. very simple... 2x2 tunnels, not 1x1s... 3x3 if it really bothers you, else just use wood planks like others. The only problem is how the diamonds don't conform to the blocks, dirt on wood looks bad, but thats something that'll change later too...

The diamond terrain vs the 7.6 modify block terrain, well I don't call diamond terrain ground breaking or anything, it takes more effort to make a nice looking mine with diamond terrain. Diamond terrain is more naturally looking but it is harder to work with as a result. And diamond terrain is hardly smooth terrain but it's just the first attempt at it.

You people need to READ THE DAM STICKYS !!!!!

This is not the smooth terrain that will be implemented in the game..
.it is just a stepping stone to greater things.
a8 will remove the whole terrain as we know it...

If you like blocks this is the wrong game to be playing.. they will be completly removed in the next 4-6 weeks.

Unity engine (7D2) these are just for showcasing and not 7D2D

Voxel farm is not the engine used for 7D2D but it is a good indication of where they are going.

the diamond shape isnt natural.it looks good but hard to work with.

WOW, another thread on this crap.
Jezuz, play the game and shut up about your preference of diamond or square blocks. I've never seen such F'in BS over something so trivial.

i do play i have 400 hours of game play. all im saying is its had to use thats all.if they keep it thats cool.i like the game that much i'll dill with it.

I think the current looks pretty good, a great step towards smooth terrain.

Smooth terrain was always the goal.
First pass of smooth terrain released.
Complaints made the developers change the goal and give 7.6.
An even larger number of complaints from those who understood smooth terrain was always the goal got it switched back to smooth terrain first pass. During which fiasco, the developer's themselves stated that 7.6 was just to try and help folks who complained and wasn't part of the path to the final goal.

Ladders have plenty of workarounds. Before someone complains how they have to dig two or 3 times as much so they can place ladders against walls or have to place a backing against them, think a little. For a backing against the ladder, you only need it at the top and at any level you are planning to get off the ladder at. So, one or 2 extra blocks dug at the top of a shaft, and 1 or 2 extra blocks dug at each level you have an exit to your shaft (usually most just have only one at the bottom). You don't need to see the ladder the whole way, top to bottom, just where you get on and off.

The developers themselves have stated that the new colliders being written to support the final version of smooth terrain will finally get rid of see through terrain bug that has existed in all versions of the game so far.

Sick of the intellectual dishonesty from the block terrain folks mentioning a bug that has existed in all versions of the game so far of seeing through terrain as a reason not to have smooth terrain. Every time some intellectually dishonest person mentions that as reason against smooth terrain you damage any argument you are making.

EDIT: adding this screenshot I cam across of 7.6 showing the bug that these intellectually dishonest posts claim is a result of smooth terrain:

I'll give it another go at beta, but I suspect it will not be any better. I have done quite a few EA titles, and this is by far the very worst for releasing untested code I have ever seen.

Given they are releasing updates nearly every week i think its to be expected its gonna have more bugs tho as far as im concerned its no where as bad as you are trying to make it out to be, frankly i think you are just druming up drama like you usually do.

Its very simple...

NONE OF THIS MATERS....NEITHER WILL BE STAYING...

Once A8 hits the whole world will be on completely different code...
Most of which is custom code hand wrtien by TFP...
The devs them selves have stated this.
The 7.5 was just there to make it easyer to start from as the world needs to be hand smoothed.

For christ sake give it a rest...

Well said Red..... some people need to pay a whole lot of attention to the news

I am(and I dare say you are aswell) so sick of users that complain about the same crap points over and over... they have been there for ever and we know the have fixed them.

These points are moot...
