The world lighting is fine, it's the artificial lights that are so messed up.
actually i find the lighting still passes through materials. i honestly dont care about that as much. but when you see the flickering happening even through the materials it hurts. its a pain in the ass and the flickering needs to go, Its practically unplayable for me at the moment. because even during the day if your around torches the flickering is still noticable. its driving me insane. and nobody here is complaining about the world lighting or flash lights and nobody is saying we are afraid of the dark. Its more us getting headaches etc etc from the flickering. and you may well be a tough macho i love the dark i dont need the light bull**** but low and behold we need light to see. it would be silly just sitting in the dark all night and only coming out in the day.
and thats all well and good. but at least with the sound something can be done about it.

Steam Forum: [MOD]Light Flicker Remover for 7DTD
Released based on the Alpha 7.1 Torch Flicker Remover by DerPopo.
It's just a small mod that makes torches provide a constant amount of light instead as the flickering sometimes becomes annoying.
Mod was renamed to reflect the new method that is impacted and primarily responsible for the flickering now.
This mod sets both torchflicker and lightflicker to return a steady amount of light.
Torchflicker looks like it may not be called anymore but I did set it to return a fixed amount as well just in case
