Nah probably not. There's only about a million threads complaining about this, I'm sure they're not even working on it.
Deadlysins Mar 14, 2014 @ 1:49pm
it needs to be darker

Yeah, the lighting is all messed up..... and the flashing torches are horrible. But we're just beating a dead horse here... I hope they get on the lighting issues soon.

Maybe - but I wouldn't call it excessive until you are beating that dead horse with a flickering torch... :gopher:

Actually, the lastest patches should have diminished the torch flickering significantly. I noticed an obvious difference that doesn't cause me a headache anymore. Also, make sure to go into your options and select 'High Quality Lights' in the video options. This will make all the lighting much brighter and diminish the flickering issue.

Sorry grubble.... they still flash no matter what. and if I get light sources too close together, they become as bright as the noonday sun. Like I said, it's not my settings.

Also has anyone noticed that now torches cause hugh drops in FPS?

What? Lightings awesome! Heaven forbid it gets dark at night. Adjust your gamma if you have a problem. Also flashlights actually do something now, so I dunno what you're complaining about. Light no longer passes through material as easily, put the torch partially behind a block, still flickers, but its not as intense. I'm personally not afraid of the dark, and love how tense it makes it when you're running through a forest at night with zombies all around you. Darkness will prevail ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

So you're telling me that you can see perfectly fine in a dark forrest? Night lighting is just fine, it would be nice if when they add the weather conditions that some nights are brighter than others. (full mooon vs cloudy night)
Lenkdrache Mar 15, 2014 @ 5:46am
Since the moon is stuck at "full", it is indeed very easy to see at night. They even have it get pitch black before the moon sets, just like in the real world.

The world lighting is fine, it's the artificial lights that are so messed up.

Well the torches are annoying but the audio is worse than the lighting for me.

actually i find the lighting still passes through materials. i honestly dont care about that as much. but when you see the flickering happening even through the materials it hurts. its a pain in the ass and the flickering needs to go, Its practically unplayable for me at the moment. because even during the day if your around torches the flickering is still noticable. its driving me insane. and nobody here is complaining about the world lighting or flash lights and nobody is saying we are afraid of the dark. Its more us getting headaches etc etc from the flickering. and you may well be a tough macho i love the dark i dont need the light bull**** but low and behold we need light to see. it would be silly just sitting in the dark all night and only coming out in the day.

Sounds like you should run the mod:
Official 7 Days To Die Modding Forum: [MOD]Light Flicker Remover for 7DTD[7daystodie.com]
Steam Forum: [MOD]Light Flicker Remover for 7DTD
Released based on the Alpha 7.1 Torch Flicker Remover by DerPopo.
It's just a small mod that makes torches provide a constant amount of light instead as the flickering sometimes becomes annoying.
Mod was renamed to reflect the new method that is impacted and primarily responsible for the flickering now.
This mod sets both torchflicker and lightflicker to return a steady amount of light.
Torchflicker looks like it may not be called anymore but I did set it to return a fixed amount as well just in case

Also, might want to check out the Modding Forum on the Official Site

EDIT: raplce mod links with versions that will link to the current/last updated version now and in the future.
