Offline Mode?
I tried to play 7 DTD when my internet connection was down, but it asked me to log in to Steam. Please tell me this doesn't have always-on DRM...

Yeah this needs to change IMO. Say for example all civilization falls apart and we have no internet. I want to be able to run a generator and still play 7dtd for ♥♥♥♥ sake!!! :) . They do need to fix this

Man, what a huge disappointment...
Honestly, this seems like the first thing that should be remedied. Moreso than bugfixes and feature updates.

Always-on internet is *not* required for 7DTD. Right now it only needs to be connected when you first start the game, then you can disconnect and keep playing.

They are working on a long-term fix for this where you can play with Steam offline.

I suppose that's mildly better but disappointing all the same, given my erratic internet connection which can go off for days at the worst times.

I noticed that awhile back. Its nice to know you don't lose game from internet loss.Thats one good thing about this.Until then I would be screaming at your internet provider OP :)

Unfortunately that kind of tactic doesn't work, no matter how many angry phone calls or boycotts they get from no matter how many people. Which is why my only hope is to get angry at the devs for including this feature. :|

The feature exists in the game because it was developed as both a MP and SP game in tandem. Single player runs with the network layer active (from what I've heard). It's Alpha, and so they take certain shortcuts to get development further along.

Get angry if you like, it won't help. They are doing a fantastic job, and the majority of players (99%+) don't have an issue with the connection requirement. Patience in this case is definitely a virtue - they'll have a fix before long.

Have you written letters??? You pay for a service and you should get what you pay for. Written complaints will do more than you think. That along with some phone calls to the right people and you may be surprised."squeaky wheel gets the grease".. Its better than just sitting there and taking it or getting mad at the devs.In its current state the game at least lets you continue playing if you lose connection. At least thats a good thing for now

Well, I wrote this post. I guess that'll get my concerns expressed, and that's probably all that's needed if Jaga's right about them trying to actually fix this problem.
Tentatively Scheduled for Alpha 8:

Ok, thank you for your response. I guessed it would be steam but their support was just trying to pass the issue on to the developers. If you do add an offline mode I'd be happy to purchase the game again

it really hope they fix this. single player should work without an internet connection! and playing with your friends in a local network without internet connection (lan party) would be great, too!

My bad.
But you know how cable companies are. Unless you complete burn each and every one of them down to the ground (literally) we're all going to be stuck with subpar, expensive, and degrading internet forever.
CAPITALISM, YO.
