Till they fix it you just need to put glass panels a block or two above your plants to stop wabbits etc from spawning on the soil and also put over hangs up to stop spider zombies climbing up and walking all over your farm.

So you really don't need to go to all the trouble of building walls and glass roofs, there's a much simpler solution.
Its pretty easy this one outside my base took 2-3 days.

This last one dead centre in my base took 4 or so game days, inside it has a snake pathway so i just run from one end to the other when i need to grab some corn for my auger.

Depening on how big your building is, a rooftop farm can be a great option.

I was wondering about that, since campfires provide the same effect on zombie movement as daylight.
Edit: But I usually just elevate my farms and encase them in glass panes.
