> die 7 more times
When i started off i made a wall with spikes infront of it and a ledge i could shoot down. about 5 blocks away i had an opening. Zombies used to aggro me walk through the spikes infornt of them and i could kill them off from the wall.
Along comes a bear, i need hide and finish a quest. I do the same procedure as usual. Stand on the wall and start shooting bear. Bear looks at me. turns away, runs to the opening in the wall goes through, runs past me to the boxes i had stapled to get onto the wall and starts jumping onto the box till he reaches my level. I end up baffled and obvioulsy become his meal...
If they have the paws to grip a tree trunk it's not too much of a stretch for them to eventually figure out a ladder.
Maybe they should have to climb it realllllly slowly?
Hmm..spider zombies jump a plenty, had a couple bore into the radio tower on top of which I was hiding and they had no problem scaling the tower from the inside to get to me.
Ferals with both legs amputated by spikes climbing ladders?
CHECK.
At least they can't run in that condition.
Like you said, buckle up :)
P.S.
The feral climbing thing has to be a bug because it's just too goofy.
1) On your base's roof, put an extra block's lip around the roof edge to prevent spiders from swarming your roof.
2) Make an entrance to your base at least 5 blocks high. Wood block spikes are one block high, one zombie can lose its legs on the spike block, and another can climb on top of the 1st zombie. 5 blocks high prevents the World War Z poster from happening.
3) Make a ramp across from the entrance, with a 2-block gap. Zombies and dogs can't jump, but you can. This way, there's no need for opening doors, or climbing or falling down ladders to get into your base.
4) For horde nights, make a concrete / steel war platform at least 30 blocks away from your base, with a catwalk at least 5 blocks high connecting the war platform and your base. Surround the war platform with 2 rings of pressure mines, and a dual ring of iron spikes directly around the war platform. Make the entire war platform solid reinforced concrete (steel on the outside, if you have the time and materials. Make sure to put concrete / steel 100-columns under your catwalk every 6 blocks or so to prevent collapse by weight. Also remember to put lip blocks crossways from your catwalk supports, and also around your war platform, so spiders can't climb up onto the catwalk or the war platform.
This way, no climbers can get to you, ever. Then it's just a matter of those acid-spitting cop zombies...
