Crossbow won't load/fire

I have been having trouble with the crossbow. I have crossbow bolts, I have them on my main HUD, yet the crossbow just dry fires. I've tried deleting the game and reloading a couple of times with no luck. Am I doing something wrong?

no...just single player standard settings

I've been playing all morning, using my crossbow... your particular game may be bugged, delete the save and start over.

Tried it....i'll try again. Sort of sucks because the crossbow seems to be a great weapon.

I love the crossbow.... one shot kills all the zombies (shoot the fat one's in the head for 1-shot kill)

I hope restarting resolves your issue... the only other thing I can think of is fiddling with the difficulty settings..... I usually run at scavenger setting...

deleted my game (only 2 days in) deleted the game...no luck. This sucks. my difficulty settings is at 2 (forget the lingo for it) :(

I'm sorry I couldn't help you..... hopefully today someone more knowledgable will see this thread, and be able to figure it out.

Did you try pressing R before firing? I've found that the crossbow when crafted doesn't come with a bolt ready (like in alpha 5). Meaning you have to load it 1 time in order to fire a bolt. After that, it'll reload automatically. If that doesn't work for you either, i'd download the game again and verify game files.

for the first shot AND every time when the stack is used up, you have to load the crossbow manually with "R" ... crossbow and bolts have to be in the main hud slots and the crossbow highlighted !
no problem here, apart from sometimes to load "manually"

do you play with the cheater option active, i have view it's cause this problem to people when they use this option, or when they play on an old map..., they are not able to reload weapon

EDIT: yep, I feel pretty dumb right about now. Pressed "r" and my crossbow is now a killing machine. Thanks to all that responded!!! Happy zombie killing and base building!

I think that's the only weapon/item I have yet to find in-game.

There is also something called an Aggar. It is either/or for digging Post-holes or/and planting. Iwas over loaded @ time it was found had no room gonna go back. I've seen two those. I'm gonna find out on another Foray. I'll check-back on this Post-Thread if you like or not. Later..k
