Spider Zombies

So I can honestly say that in all my game time I haven't seen a single spider zombie. I always take shelter deep underground but today I felt bold so I started camping on my roof. I keep hearing a weird out of place kind of high pitched sound (like a velociraptor) but I'm not sure if this is the spider zed calling a horde or not. Plus I don't see it. Where is it? They come in pairs of 4 right? Should be easy to spot then??

They dont call a horde unless they see you but that's their screech alright. We tend to see them in pairs of two but it's just two of us on a MP server so I'm not sure if their behavior is different otherwise. They don't always appear right next to you, sometimes they spawn a small distance away and buildings and other obstacles can keep them from coming right to you.

Ok so the screech is legit. Thats good to know. Well the thing is I'm in the desert atm on top of my tower looking over a plain field with nothing. Day 6, no dog horde, hear the spider don't see it. It's a bit dull :/

I have yet to see any either even on the crazy blood moon, now I am worried, I know they are watching me & waiting for weakness to make their move.

In alpha 12.4 I didn't see any until the 21st day horde, which didn't show up until midnight on the 22nd. Their running animation is bad ass. They run on all 4's.

Follow the screech, go say hi! And don't kill him at first, should be less dull for a bit. :)

Can't find him. I've been running around for an entire night and I play on 120 min cycle. Nothing. Oh well it's day 7 now so hopefully I'll die fighting.

I find they sometimes spawn underground...you might have a cave underneath you.

Maybe you had go too far of it and it has despawn.

The only time they spawn now in vanilla worlds are in cities. Other than that, they spawn in scout trios when your heat map is high.

Does nobody cook anything? i can get a couple campfires lit for maybe a minute before three of them show up .. and if i get the forges going to i get AT LEAST 6 of them within minutes lol.
Ive had 15 or so before show up while i was afk .. those hoardes they called were lots of fun.

Like I said I HEAR them but can't SEE them ;). I cook nonstop and smelt iron non stop so it's only normal they hang around my Base all night.

It was more of a thing that I can't see them. I dont know what they look like other then screenshots. They also seem to duck at calling in hordes :/

Are you playing on easy settings? A garanteed way to call them in so far for me has been to do the following. Make at least 3 TNT packs (preferably 5), place them close to eachother and blow the first one. Never failed to call in a scout party of three spiders. Run around them so they see you, let them scream 5-10 times and you will have a horde. be carefull, they spawn around YOU not around them. So watch your back.

Haven't been able to test on the latest patch since I haven't found a cave to make gun powder from yet.

I hear that screetching noise a lot. and then i looked for it. it was a rabbit stuck in a cactus....

They won't call in a horde unless they see YOU. I like to shoot them in the leg or something that won't kill them so they'll call one. Otherwise, we snipe them in the head so they won't, if we're in a bad position.
