No, but it now makes it harder to find better books, tools, and other leveled loot, and anything you craft if you aren't at least level thirty or whatever is crap. This is the biggest problem we have. Plus she both doesn't want zeds and doesn't like mining that much exempt to get iron, so it's very difficult for me to get bullets now as she doesn't let me get coal or potassium very often. After all, if you aren't mining the easiest way to get gun powder is both from zeds and trash as a semi-rare drop, and we've more or less eliminated half of that.
Also, if you're wondering, the zombies scare her, and she has a weak heart so that's bad. That's why she turns them off.
SIMS games are boring. Both me and my lady agree on that.
I love 7DtD with all my heart and soul, but it's pretty much a game I play alone now because I like zombies and she's given up playing without them.
I do all the time, lol.
So, out of all the games that have been talked about, which ones have building similar to 7DtD, with blocks, instead of the premaid houses? Also, which ones have coop/multiplayer? Because that's what I want; a game we can play togeth besides this masterpiece.
Also:
The Long Dark: I have this, and enjoy it some, but it's single player so I couldn't play it with her. Plus there's no building.
The Forest: I have this as well, though I've never even tried it yet. Just haven't had the time.
Life is Feudal: I looked at this a while back, but bad devs and grindy game play steered me away. Plus all you can build are prefabs.
Have that one too. Was never able to figure out what to do, lol.
Actually, it does. Your level determines the quality of crafted items and not to mention increase in level also determines the drop chance for rare books. That's the prime defenition of gated lol.
Rising World - Kind of buggy and unfinished, but shows promise.
Salt - I can't get into this one, but others like it and it does have a lot of exploration and building. Lots of ocean-travel.
Stranded Deep - Replace zombies with sharks, and lots of underwater/island action.
Farsky - Takes place entirely underwater, but focused more on survival and resources/crafting. Good game, but kind of limited content.
Don't Starve - Quirky and fun survival game, kind of hard, 2D, has a co-op version.
Rust - Good, but stay away from this if you don't like being forced to play online with others. Many online players are jerks.
Starforge - I hesitate to recommend this one, because it is unfinished and the devs have no intention of delivering on their kickstarter goals, or even fixing the current build. It is kind of fun, though. Good for a few days, IMO.
Starmade - Hard to get into, but LOADS of interstellar exploring, crafting, and spaceship building. Some combat, which is hard to get the hang of. Very Minecraft-y.
Terraria - Excellent 2D sidescrolling survival game. Mostly focuses on exploring and combat, with loads of resources and stuff to build and craft. Lots and lots of content.
The Forest - Replace zombies with cannibals and mutants. Not as polished as 7DtD, but a good atmospheric survival horror game with lots of crafting. Can be played without enemies.
Project Zomboid - One of my favorites, an isometric zombie survival game. Can be played without enemies. Very in-depth survival mechanics, lots and lots and lots of resources to find and craft/build/cook with. Probably the most interesting of these, because the game forces you to change your tactics as time goes by. City electricity and water soon stop, and the loot in buildings does eventually run out (even if you play with respawning loot, the food you find will all be spoiled). Very in-depth character mechanics. To survive, players have to build or fortify a safehouse, scrounge for food, water, and medicine, keep their mood and sanity stable (depression and panic are a major factor), sleep regularly, farm food, etc. Multiplayer.
ARK Survival Evolved - Replace zombies with dinosaurs. Dinos can be tamed and used for various tasks, and there is heavy emphasis on multiplayer gameplay. Kind of buggy, however.
Signs of Life - Much like Terraria, only in Space.
Space Engineers - Space survival/building game. Mine for materials to keep your power and oxygen levels up, and build ships and stations in space.
Medieval Engineers - Same thing, only with dark-ages level technology on Earth.
Starbound - Also a lot like Terraria, but in space. Has a lot more content than Signs of Life, but not as good gameplay, IMO.
Survival Postapocalypse Now - Looks like it will be a good survival game with lots of scavenging and some building, but it's currently too unfinished to really get into. Also has lots of jerk players in multiplay.
Subnautica - A VERY nice underwater-alien-world survival game. Includes base building, buildable and customizable submarines, and lots of places to explore (many more to come). Focused on exploration and survival, there is very little in the way of weapons. There are a lot of hostile predators, so players have to think outside the box in order to explore around in hostile waters. Several "safe" underwater zones, too. Warning: Some of the hostile predators are downright terrifying.
I Shall Remain - Not a very good game yet, but shows promise. Zombie survival resource-based game, with Diablo-esque combat.
Craft the World - A mix of Terraria and Dwarf Fortress, you order a bunch of dwarves around trying to keep them alive and help them build and expand a base. Lots of mining, resource gathering, etc. No multiplayer.
Edge of Space - Another good Terraria-in-space survival crafting game. Very resource oriented, also features a lot of 2D sidescrolling combat involving jetpacks, in a strange alien setting where the planet consists of floating islands.
Windforge - Another Terraria-like game, this one focuses on resource gathering for the purpose of building airships as well as land bases. Like Edge of Space, the landscape is comprised of 2D floating islands.
Forsaken Isle - A top-down resource gathering, tool crafting, base building game that offers a very good time. Very zelda-esque (the old titles, not the new 3D stuff). Not finished, but shows great promise. Single player only, for now.
Frozen State - A nice survival horror game, focused on resource gathering in an extremely hostile environment. Hazards include hunger, thirst, cold (it's Russia. There is no heat, only cold), and strange mutant enemies. Top-down isometric gameplay, single player only last time I checked. Maybe multiplayer in the future.
GRAV - Interesting alien-world survival crafting game. Lots of combat with aliens, as well as with jerk players (if playing online). Focused on exploration and building. Unfinished, but shows great promise.
NEO Scavenger - Very interesting turn-based single-player survival game. Very difficult game, with a focus on exploration and maintaining the health of the character. Has a storyline. Features turn-based combat. Simple graphics, lots of text.
Planet Explorers - Good co-op alien-world survival game, not very hard. Gathering resources to build stuff is a large part of the game. Currently unfinished, but moving in the right direction.
Savage Lands - Very similar to The Forest, it focuses on resource gathering by day and defending yourself and your base at night. Very combat oriented.
Sir, You Are Being Hunted - Single player survival game with a focus on exploration, not much in the way of resources. As the title says, you are being hunted. By robots. Very, very British robots. Running away and sneaky gameplay is preferable to combat, as you are almost always at a severe disadvantage.
Take On Mars - Interesting game about exploring and surviving on Mars. There are a couple game modes, the first focuses on launching space probes and landers to perform missions to explore Mars, the second focuses on being an astronaut trying to live on Mars. Unfinished, but shows promise.
Note that many of these are not first-person games, and several are not multiplayer. These are all the games I could think of that are in any way similar to 7DtD. Hope this is helpful :-)
Planet Explorers is good, but they're still working the transition from Unity 4 to Unity 5, so I'd give them a little while longer to sort out the bugs that surfaced during this switch over.
It's an EA game, but it is/was pretty good. You can get a free Demo of an older (U4) version to get a rough feel for it on their Site.
TUG - also an early access game and fairly early still in the development cycle, but quite playable as is in it's current state.
Has Crafting, Mining, Hunting, Survival and so forth in it.
Current (survival) threats are a Lion, a Bear-Ram creature, and to a lesser extent a little Gnomish type creature (Kinkojin).
There's also going to be a Magic system in it, though that aspect may be minor (mainly Potions ?).
Definitely worth a look.
yeah it does, your level also increases the type of loot you find. At first you can craft only low level faulty items, leveling up, im at 25 now, i can craft yellows and greens and am finding in loot mostly greens, blues and purples
Prefferably, but any game you suggest I'll look in to, incuding 2D games.
I actually suggested that, but she doesn't want to 'cheat.' She wants to earn the levels the old fasioned way. And then she's frustrated that we can't get better than a poor pickaxe...
A similar, but much older game is "A game of dwarves" which is even less combat oriented.
If your gf wants some very relaxing (almost zen-like) building game then I'd suggest "Banished": it's more like a city builder simulator though, even if the survival element is very important for your toons.
Another survival Sci-Fi 2D game still in EA but very nice for crafting/building is "Signs of Life": they just added multiplayer in the last release. :)
Rising World
Having said that you pretty much have complete control to all the settings in 7 days. You could just tweak all of those settings
