I can't find this on wiki. I tried mining in caves , tried looting , no steel at all...

Requires skill book , then make a steel ingot mold . From there insert iron in the forge with said mold, out put is steel ingots

Once you got steel and made the ingot ,i use my iron ingots to convert to steel

Ohhhh thanks , by the way which pickaxe is better , steel or iron?

In my opinion it is kind a dumb... In other games you an make steel with coal and iron

I prefer the steel pickaxe, seems appropriate for the job and looks good doing it. Less work required to do mining

Steel is new as of A12, I imagine the requirments to craft it will change more yet.

I heard Steel Pick Axe isn't worth the resources to make it. Is this true, in your guy's opinion?

I think it is very worth it. Mining and smashing through metal doors etc takes much less hits than with an iron pickaxe so in the long run you're saving much more iron on the metal strips used to repair it. I only have a yellow quality pick for now but I would never go back given the choice.

The steel pickaxe does have the downside of being slower to swing, but it takes FAR fewer hits to break things than the iron pick. Unless you can craft a badass iron pick (at which point things break quickly anyway), the steel pick is better in every way. IMO.

I agree, steel pickaxe all the way. My poor quality steel pickaxe was better than my good quality iron pickaxe. Once you have the steel skillbook, you need to create a steel ingot mould. Then to create steel, you just put the mould in the forge with some scrap iron, and you'll receive steel ingots. :)

find and read "riddle of steel". make "steel ingot mold". 1 iron ore = 6 iron weight/1 steel ingot/2 iron ingot/12 scrap metal.
yes, iron ore can be converted directly to scrap metal.

The steel pickaxe does more damage but is slower, but overall, is more effective. With the additional bonus of require less repair, and using less stamina, since it require less hits.
