Blueberry Bushes - Are they even existent?

Hi guys,

So I started playing this game yesterday, and I love it. Problem is, I keep running low on water supplies and I've read that blueberries are brilliant for food and thirst quenching. My problem is that I can't find any blueberry bushes anywhere! I have camped out in the church towards the middle of the map in the forest area, and I have adventured all around that area as well as the pine forest to the west but have not found one single blueberry.

Any hints on what they look like and how to identify them easily?

I'd suggest taking a look at the wiki or Youtube. Make sure the videos aren't too old. Anything over 3 months or so might not be true in the current build.

Actually there is also a blueberry patch behind a house on 72 right before the bridge. As well as finding them in the snow biome. You can also grow them yourself once you have the seeds.

I have a lovely stack of them now, and found a corn farm on the way. Now just to create a "zombie proof" farm haha, any suggestions for the block used for the fence?

Build your farm on a flat rooftop and make sure to have secure access to it. Build a ledge around the rooftop to keep spider zombies from riding up the walls to the roof.

Oh, and light it up well with torches, to keep zombies from spawning up there.

I think pretty much everything you need, you can craft. So you say you're running low on water? Make jars and fill them from a water source, then sterilise the water to drink it.

Cooking pot? Make it!

And blueberry bushes. They're not just in the snow biome, i'm in one with that annoying tall grass everywhere, i found a garden with dozens of the plants in it. Can't remember if i've seen any single bushes out on the grass though.

Snow biom is loaded with blueberries, then make seeds from the blueberries and plant more wherever u want.

I recommend Potatoes, much better crop. Load up on blueberries and put them in a chest at ur base if you decide to get some for your base get a lot while your there, they ain't really worth the effort if your far from the snow biom in my opinion.

Look like dark bushes in snow biomes, usually they are all over

when you get some blueberries, turn a couple into blueberry seeds, then plant them in a secure area. your main concern would be animals, as they tend to run into them & crush them lol. they're all over the snow biome, so you can't miss them!

get an empty jar, make some clay lumps, & make a jar mold. go to a water source, or the desert, & get some sand; turn it into crushed sand, then make some empty glass jars. (be careful, bc one crushed sand makes like 4-6 glass jars lol) take the empty jars, right click into some water, then put it on a campfire with a pot, & you get clean bottled water.
(just in case you didn't know how to do that. if you did, sorry for making you read all that! lol)

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help :D. Gonna' be honest, I thought it'd be similar to Minecraft but it's really not haha. I have blueberries now, as well as a cooking pot. Later today I'll find a safe place for them to grow.

Unfortunately @djxavier13, the church where I am has a pointed roof so I can't do that haha. I'll just have to make a wall that's double the thickness and repair that when needed :P.

Just went raiding in a few houses before I signed off last night and found 8 stacks of water, so I have a ready supply for now hehe. Just need to make sure they last until the blueberries are growing in a nice pattern so that I get some every day.

This. I rebuilt one of those like 6-7 story towers in Gravetown then built a 2 story house on top of it and I use the city hall, and the roof of my house, as my farms.

That's a good idea, I should probably move to a more populated (in terms of houses) area than the church. Horde attacks are pretty frequent - I've had 3 in one day which was a pain in the ass.
