Air Drop question...
Couldn't find any info on the net... but my question is, what time of the day do the Air Drops occur?

I thought it was supposed to be noon time, but I'm not 100% certain. Last couple days I haven't received a air drop around noon time and figured I missed it later on in the day. But previously it was around noon.

Can anyone confirm? Thanks!

There isn't a set time. We have even had air drops at night.

Ah ok... then I must have a bunch of crates around somewhere. I haven't seen them drop in a couple days.

Any tips on hunting them down? Or do I just need to be paying attention to the drops?

When in game hit ( ~ ) console it will give you cords as Airdrop spawning crate..... cords. You can then navigate by bringing console back up and typing ( LP ) which gives you your current location, ignore the middle number that's height, just use X and Z . Example 410 66 -310 . You can also get to high grounds and see the crates in the distance, they tend to appear before being rendered.

Also if you find a crate and log out then back in the crate will despawn. However nonfound crates will not do this until they have been rendered, this can be a pain if you walk into the chunk a crate is and log out and cannot locate it as it was in same chunk as you but despawned due to log out.

Airdrops only start after day one, they sometimes don't sound off so you can go without hearing an airplane. Sometimes you can get multiple planes and up to three crates per run.

Thank you!

If you don't want to use the console to...dare I say, cheat...you can climb to the top of a hill and you'll see them far off into the foggy distance. I don't see the planes come in the desert, but they come daily overhead on Spillway Lake for me.

i see them all the time in the desert. go high on top watch them start to drop and go after them. I've never used the (~). There is different spawn hours. I only play the once a day drop and its consistently drops 12:01 if i'm standing on my hill where my base is located underground. in the desert. If i'm not on my hill and out exploring it doesn't come. I have never found a crate that I wasn't on the chase for. Do the crates actually stay there till its found?

I'd say "yes" because that's how it worked but I haven't proven that yet with the latest build.

Day 16 in my current game.

I've run and exited the game several times this weekend and i've got about 6-8 crates laying around.

It's a pretty safe bet that they don't depawn.

xlockeed's condition about being near one when exiting makes sense also.

Remember to look up once in a while since crates can land anywhere, on top of buildings. in trees...on your head.

Yes, 12:01. Never failed in my games. The crates you miss will still be there later, I have found lots of them when I'm out on running around in places I have forgotten have had a airdrop.

I just wish they did not land in the radiation zone that happens to often

Epic thread bump

What time they drop used to depend on what you had the frequency timer set at. It used to be in hours, but now is in days, so it will drop at 12:01 pm when the drop days hits.

Yes, they will stay there until you find them, but they will stop putting up orange smoke after a set amount of time OR until you enter the same map chunk as it. There is a limit to the number of unopened drop crates that can exist in the world at once, so when you hit that limit, air drops will stop until you open some of them.

Most of the tweaks right now are for the RWG map which has no radiation zones, so I wouldn't look for the radiation drop bug to get fixed anytime soon.
