Secure Wooden Doors

How do I place them? The cube is green, indicating I can install the door, but it just doesn't work. What am I missing? Getting back into the game after taking a lot of time off from 7DTD. The improvements are very noticablle now that I've spent a night with this build and the game feels much more immersive in terms of survivability. Not so "minecrafty" anymore, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Anyway, back to the doors. How in the world do I place them? Also, why does it look llike a half door (takes up one cube)? Doesn't a door occupy due cubes of space?

wooden doors only work for wood , you need to have a wood house, cant put it on metal or concrete or like :) it will be a whole door when placed

You need to have at least 2 blocks (or frames) each side, but i think it may be any matter.
You rotate door with left button and place them with right one.
If you still can't, post a sceenshot :)

Also make sure the blocks are upgraded once, I can't place a door inside wood frame walls.

Bingo! That must be it. How do I "upgrade" wooden frames.

Use a stone axe, and some wood planks... right click the frame to upgrade :)
I should clarify: right click with the stone axe to upgrade.

Stone ax or repair tool while you have the needed base materials in your inventory, (don't have to have the wood planks or scrap metal in your hand.) And i just had a brain fart as to which mouse click did what...one hits the damn block, the other repairs it. You'll figure it out no worries.

Well I'll be damned. 80+ hours in this alpha and I missed the update about upgrading? I need to take shorter breaks from early access lol. Very nice. Used a repair tool to upgrade wooden frames and the doors went in with no issues. Devs are doing a great job of keeping 7DTD a unique experience from Minecraft and Rust. Kudos.

BTW, whatever magic you delivered with that last patch fixed all of my performance woes. Back to max settings with no issues. Keep on rocking Fun Pimps!

One more stupid question: Did the ability to repair tools (axe, repair tool, etc) get scrapped? I see that you need a repair to kit to bring weapon durability up, but I don't see any way to repair tools.

Use metal strips to repair most tools. Some use stones or sticks, check the item tooltip to see what repairs it.

The Pimps added tooltips in a later 7.x update.
Hover your mouse over everything in your inventory.

Damn you necroed a really old thread, but to answer your question you are placing it in the wrong cube.

The cubes adjacent to where you are placing the door must be complete cubes. In this case there are no cubes adjacent to where you are trying to place the door.

This is what you are trying to do:

Either that or you need to place the door in the right block (in the doorway, not next to it). A door frame or other item might be preventing you from placing the door in the current doorway.

Sometimes on Prefab Structures there are Door Frames around the doorways that interfere with being able to place a door. The doorways often look clear but there may be a metal rim/edge around the doorway that needs to be broken before placing your door.

It's not obvious as Door Frames are only a Creative Mode item and not part of the regular crafting system.
