The torch can be used as a makeshift weapon if circumstances are dire, though I don't encourage it.
Candle and torch doesn't do anything for heat. To some extent forge and campfire.The name can lead to mistake, but it's heat as in activity induced heat, not like heat.
In the case of fire and forge, heat comes from using combustible (IE activity), and not because you are generating heat.
I play with the heatmap, and never seen an increase in heat because of any light/heat source. It will probably be added in the game sooner or later, but not right now.
