with all the rain, can we have a working water tower ?
and other means to gather the sweet water from any rain
-it would greatly improve immersion and realism
-also it could make the need to make suicidal searchtrips to find rivers and lakes early in the game obsolete (i'm refering mostly to the dogpacks and the 2 (semi-feral) zombie-waves a day, that cost time to negotiate)

I believe rain causes small puddles already so I don't see why not.
I hit the roof of a water tower, there's loads of water in them, so I smashed a hole in the pipe and out it flowed to create a pool from which I gathered said water to take home and boil.
You should be able to lay pots out during rain to collect rainwater. You should also be able to craft a water collector using a tarp and sticks. The first option takes longer than the second.

+1 for these ideas. I'm on board.

This is what I wanted to suggest. Pots or a big rain barrel in later a stage which can be crafted using wood and scrap iron. And maybe upgradable to a shower or something to clean infections?

Collecting rain water is a basic survival skill too

^Which tells me that they will add it eventually.

What about gas barrels? empty the gas into gascans you craft, then use the empty barrel to collect rainwater in!
Exactly. Or the millions of empty cans! I like this idea

This is a great idea, now that the game has evoloved i think we should be able to collect rain water in some way, even if we could build a water tank or even have water puddle up in holes in the ground as is does in real life, even if the water in the puddle evaperates, it would still be nice.

I really enjoy playing random gen maps because of the well randomness and the size, but finding water in random gen is a real challenge.
you could always collect water in 3-4 buckets and make a water pool at your base, the water works a little like minecraft and can replenish a block a little like minecraft infinite water source. sometimes it doesn remove it so i always have a spare bucket to hand to refill manually then refill bucket again
