"I'm not sure we will get to water in A13, now that we are going to be doing shorter builds. But the plan is to explore micro voxels. Water falls might just be a particle effect and then the water continues on the next lowest elevation. We are against players getting water blocks. We've talked about using the pipes to have to dig a trench and run pipes from a water source to fill a pond or whatever and do man made water sources. Water bases will be a thing of the past, unless of course they have legs that go to the ground under water. " -madmole
that said, the current water sources are POI's. They usually have gravel paths leading to them from the main roads from what I've seen, unless you're far from main roads. They're quite common but they're small so could be easy to miss. The desert has the largest 'lakes' atm. more like small ponds but w/e.
