This would literally remove there threat if you could just rush a house and parachute from the top without as much as a scratch.
Now if the recipe book for making one was ultra rare than I wouldn't mind seeing a parachute as an extra gameplay mechanic. I just don't want it to be something that everyone could use from level 1.
I think something like a hang glider would fit this criteria a bit better, Far Cry 4 style!
Ever played cube world? All I ever did in that game was hang glide everywhere xD
I think a basic chute would be an easier craftable item although we do have pipe so maybe a chute for an early craft & a hang glider for a higher level craft.
Zip-lines would be basically one way, one use however, so there is some possibility of balance. The towers could be attacked also, and you'd need special towers to allow it (gameplay reasons).
I don't think we can afford to allow hang-gliders. Parachutes is interesting, but it would be slow, you would have limited control, you would need to know the wind direction and have a wind system (we don't), you'd have a risk of failure/death, and a good risk of sprained and broken leg. There would have to be some time down for disentanglement, recovery from disorientation , getting to a standing position after tumbling, etc.
That's potentially a lot of work, for just a semi-cheap getaway plan via parachute. It would be cool, but it would usually result in failure or more hurt and simply running away.
Might be simpler to use fire-poles, ladders, and ropes.
I fogot about that, that would work.
I never tried just jumping off the roof. common sense says it would be death so I avoid it. Iwill try though now you mention it.
Also make it where you need more then 3 stories to jump off of or chute won't work, cause in reality theirs no way to use a chute from a 2/3 story building. You would plummit to the ground before chute would even try to open lol
For example, in the hospital, drop one in a corner and then jump from the top floor. No damage that way.
