Also, anyone even remotely competent with a bolt action would be like...
FIRE.. I, 2, 3, AIM (4-5) FIRE. Repeat. The problem would not be cycling the bolt, that's very quick. The problem would be emptying the internal magazine and having to reload it.
Before the rifles such as the Garand were invented, bolt action rifles were used to very great effect in war.
Open bolt
Insert Round
Close Bolt
Aim

Insert mag

Change Mag
Repeat as often as needed.
Correct. Sort of.
The sniper rifle in this game in semi-automatic.
Adding a magazine would not make the huntting rifle operate the same.
It would just make it more convenient to fire without having to reload as often.
Other games have done it COD W@W has bolt action rifles that have clips or load from top reloading animations & are still bolt action. The Pimps went with what we have now a single shot bolt action hunting rifle. We do not know the time frame for the story line so this rifle might be true to the era of the game. They are already adding more ammo options & I am sure the Pimps will be adding weapons true to the era of the game. Why don't we just leave the HR alone & wait patiently for the weapon the OP desires.
I'm no rifleman, but my understanding is that the main negative of a bolt action rifle is that when you throw the bolt (to load another round), you lose track of your aim. The magazine can hold as many as 18 or more rounds. Each cycling of the bolt takes a bit of time, perhaps a second or so, that puts another round into the firing chamber from the magazine.
If I recall, there was a particular rifle that allowed one to throw the bolt from another position, this would make throwing the bolt not block the aim view. However, it still means you are undertaking an action which would shake or vibrate the gun, so that your aim would at best be approximate. However, it might allow you to retain some awareness and tracking of your target.
The advantage of any semi-automatic is that it loads the next round automatically, one shot loads one round afterwards, often because of a use of the spent gases which activate the loading mechanism.
Advantages of bolt action rifles is that they often can be designed to be supremely accurate, where semi-automatics initially had mechanics that made them less accurate. Semi-autos have advanced tremendously over the decades, and they can be very, very accurate as well. If I recall correctly, mostly from games and their research, there are excellent sniper rifles that use both mechanisms today.
However, someone who is an actual rifleman could probably say something much more definitive.
Normally, although this seems to be changing in the modern world, you would not have easy access to any available sniper rifles. They can be either bolt-action or semi-auto, but they are basically hand crafted or at least adjusted and customized.
Hunting Rifles for this game, would effectively be very accurate. There is no meaningful difference given the scaling of this game. We aren't going to be shooting at anything over a few hundred feet, let alone 3-5 football fields. Nor would we have the skill to adjust for wind etc over that range unless we were trained to do so and had plenty of practice (and the talent).
I think the point and difference for this game, is that a scoped bolt action rifle will be very accurate but slow to fire, it's a headshot maker, and it will use a heavy round (anywhere from about 5.56 to 7.62 mm, and it has some major heat on it. The long barrel makes it accurate for ranged shots, and just about any hunting round can go right through a cinder block (maybe not if filled with cement inside though, dunno).
Assault rifles are just burst or auto-fire optioned semi-automatics. Semi-automatics are faster to fire, you just click and fire really (recoil and aim must be reacquired). Reliability goes down with the faster firing mechanisms. You are supposedly more likely to jam an automatic, than a semi-automatic, than a bolt action rifle (on average).
Scopes take something away from battlefield awareness. But they are crucial for long range hits especially to vital areas.
The shorter the engagement range, the more valuable are semi-automatic mechanisms, with automatics being even better at shorter ranges and for suppression. Usually, you aren't going to use a scope much in mobile close quarters combat especially in a target rich environment that's about to overrun your position, but that also depends on the skill of the sniper. If he's as good as that gentleman portrayed in Saving Private Ryan in the church tower, sometimes close is simply not close enough. I think he was using, forgive my potential mistake here, an M-1. It probably had something like a 5 round magazine (per Wikipedia it is 8 round magazine), was semi-auto, and basically a more accurate marksman version of the Garand. But I didn't look it up (well I did now).
At any rate, I don't think this game is trying to do more than have different categories of situationally effective weapons.
I found the following shocking. Per the entry in Wikipedia:
"The Garand's fire rate in the hands of a trained soldier, averaged out to 40–50 accurate shots per minute at a range of 300 yards ...." (The M1 Garand is semi-auto)
Good grief. In addition it states that during Banzai charges, if lined up correctly, a single bullet could kill 3 men. That shows you the penetration of a basic hunting rifle (as well). (Many hunting rifles today use the same ammo and basically the same charge and length of barrel as the M1 Garand). Good grief.
well i guess dirty harry carried a .357 but whatever apples, oranges.
How is it all connected?

the only draw back is that you have to use the scope everytime which is slightly slower to aim (not throwing the bolt kind of makes up for it though)
and the tube cuts out some preipheral vision a little bit but its got great range and a lot of killing power. my purple hunting rifle currently resides in my weapions box
I never said it was, my first rifle when I was 13 was a bolt action with a seven round clip. I am talking about the rifle in game. It is a single shot bolt actiion rifle. The OP wants the Pimps to add a magazine to it.
