Please creators make a new save game interface.
There's nothing like having only one save that gets corrupted. All that work ruined. I want to be able to save my game every session so I can go back in a list of saves, if there's a problem

If you don't care about the used space (Each save is anywhere from 100mb-1gb+ depending on how long it's been played), there's nothing stopping you from making backups of your savegame yourself. Heck, could even make a windows batch file to do it for you with one click.

Save files are located in "C:\Users\<YourUser>\AppData\Roaming\7DaysToDie\Saves"

As for making a batch file, google should be able to point you in the right direction.

His reasoning as to why is valid though... An option for multiple saves would be nice for corruption purposes. I regularly back up my save game manually, but an in game way to make a backup or multiple saves would be nice.

It would be nice if they added cloud saves. I tend to wipe and reinstall Windows once or twice a year. Lost a save game or two by forgetting to back it up manually.

Cloud saves have been requested before. IIRC the reason there are no cloud saves is that the save files are too large and thus the feature is not compatible.

This. Save games are themselves in the ballpark of 100mb-1gb+ depending on the overall length of the save, and also require the source world to even function, which itself is 200-1.5~+gb depending on world size (And lets be real here, Basically everyone plays an 8k or 16k world, which means worlds in the ballpark of 800mb-1.5~gb)

However, Steam has a limit of 1gb cloud save as of the last i checked, and the company who owns the game has to pay for space above the free 10~mb given. So, Given that a single save and world cannot reliably fit within the maximum allowed value per user on the cloud, it's just not worth spending the money to buy the cloud space since it would never even accomplish it's goal.

I thank everyone for their responses. I didn't know the save files were that large (wow), Now I know why they don't have multiple saves. I get the manual save thing but my thinking was it should have been included with the game (before I understood the size issue). Maybe a cache file you could back up a day or two before a corruption happens.

With a little creativity, you could even make a make a batch file using the /wait parameter or use taskscheduler triggered by a app close event to make a backup save copy automatically when you exit the game.

It could do it in a 2 line batch file, but...I would not make any mod or script public that messes with user files, even just making a copy. Too much potential for people then accusing you of losing their files. Don't need that headache.

The main thing you need to backup is the player file. If you don't care about having to rebuild then you don't need to save the map file. If you don't save the map file then it will be reset to the initial state it was in when generated. You can save just your home base etc but how to do that is something I'm not well versed on. I think the map file is similar to minecraft in that there are chunks in different files (or it used to be like that back in A12?).

Either way if you back up the player profile then you can at least have the same skill set and difficulty as before. I'd make sure you have your best loot on you when you do. Keep a motor bike and best weapons and some seeds and farm plots etc on you when you do as you'll have to start from scratch again.

The player profiles are in "%appdata\7DaysToDie\Saves". Then the map name. I suggest backing up every thing except "region". The map files are indeed saved as blocks. If you google you can find out what each ragion name means and then find out where your base is in the region files and back it up for later.
