Zombies, intelligent pathing is too intelligent..
Great game, have been here since A7. While I love the game, there's one big glaring issue I have seen every patch for the last couple of years now: the zombie AI gets changed every patch and it ruins the game for a lot of people playing it normally as you guys attempt to stop people from exploiting. People are going to exploit and find exploits; if they wanna ruin their game or go for shallow wins, let them but don't make all of us suffer.
We have a cool base with a lot of perimeter defenses for an all out invasion from the mindless undead scourge. Unfortunately, the only thing invadinng our base is a group of NASA initiates out to get their wings.
Once the zombies break through a single line of anything in each layer, they all hop on their iphones to notify one another and single fine congo line for miles. I want to say about 95% of our defenses go untouched because of this AI. This is a fictional creature with a rotted brain only driven by the urge to devour. I assume it is at least since I haven't heard anything new about the naveganze lore behind them in a long time now.
Please reverse this decision so we can have mindless hordes running from all sides and making uses of all the great perimeter defenses.

TLDR: No, I don't think it's hard, the problem is I want a more zombie hoardish experience, like it used to be, instead of a besieged simulator where you very easily stack the odds in your favor.

I kind of feel the same way, the thing is should a zombie be able to break through a solid 1 metre cube of concrete anyway? The zombie ai and these other non realistic things are just ways to make the game challenging.....not realistic i guess.

Would that be a game? I mean if I sold a game where you sit in a bunker for 8 hours, would you buy it?

And let face it would you be able to find then tie up steel bars, build a frame, knock up some muck, fill the frame, wait a couple of days all while killing zombies.

I noticed that 64 horde on the highest difficulty, run around and break stuff randomly. But generally yes, they try to find the closest path to the player and this is kinda stupid, I agree. They should be more random, different behavioral templates per horder and/or per zombie would make it more interesting and unpredictable. Perhaps adding completely new monsters that specialize only on your walls can help

@megaman, yes, thank you for that tip. I'll try that and I really appreciate it. I'm glad you understand what I meant. :]

Since Alpha 17 the AI in use for the zombies is the base code for what is going to be used on the Bandit/Survivor AI.

They already have work planned to make the zeds more dumb and random.

If the raiders have guns, molotovs, etc, And they have bases with turrets, do they really need super smart A.I.?

Even a human wouldn't automatically know the weakest block in your base to attack it, specially if you paint it,
Cloud Jan 28, 2022 @ 6:13pm
Well it is not normal that zombies act so smart, but then again, my killing corridor works as it did always. Perfectly. No zombie ever reaches me. Well exept the rare spider zombie that manages somehow to clip and bug his way up and sideways through a wall, or up through the drop zone, but nothing my 8 strategicaly placed turrets can't take care of. But I won't post the build, because the evil devs might find a way to change it again. I can only say it is just a heavily modified (by me) killing corridor from some youtuber whom posts mainly that kind of stuff. Never had a horde since then overrun me. Just high ammo costs. Like 4k 9mm and around 800 shotgun shells each time. Atm I use 3 days+7 days range, survivalist, no warning, 120 minutes day. Rest is normal. Still, I'd like more the mindless zombies, just in higher numbers.

I build dumb bases for this reason. Try making a basic square 13x13 house and defending it. Putting a few doors in the front confuses them too. I generally get zombies attacking all sides. Of course they pile up at the door tho. I play Warzuks mod i'm not sure if that changes much. Basically, nerf yourself.
My favorite part about the universe brain decisions made by the dev team is the adamantium coated hands each zed has. I mean, not only can they detect heat at bedrock through tons of dirt and rock, they can dig the entire length! :lunar2019laughingpig:

People play Minecraft. This is a none argument.

I have found that since A20, non bloodmoon zombies have some very haphazard pathing. When you are greeted by them in a POI for instance, they may well run around as if in an 'OMG it's him!' mode, without having fallen or taken any damage to trigger the rage mechanic. If anything, I thought their pathing had taken a bit of hit.

Maybe it has always been like this and being old, I am simply missing this feature from previous builds.

Yes, that is the likely explanation.

I swear one horde night I saw the zombie have a forward base setup just outside my horde base area. There they had a few with chalk boards and lots of complex math equations on the boards with a stick figure of me at the top of their diagrams. Amazing what an 8x scope can let you see some days.
