Howto grow crops in snow biome?

Howto grow crops in snow biome? Same for trees. They need direct sunlight but I suppose snow will kill them?

Shovel the snow away and plant them in the dirt beneath it.

If I shovel the snow away, the fertile dirt will just appear as snow if there is no ceiling above it.
I don't know if glass panes or shower glass works.

Planting trees on dirt with snow texture is np , same for crops after using the garden hoe, bit difficullt to see the one done.

My husband and I have our main base in a snow biome and I have made a huge garden next to it. I would go to another biome, collect fertile dirt (craft that into sod if you'd like, but I don't think it's necessary either), lay that down where you want your garden, then make sure to hoe the garden before you plant. Most crops (except corn to my knowledge) will require that you plant on ground that has been setup with a garden hoe first. Good luck!

my crops are growing and have used the industrial glass as a roof and torches on the walls for light instantly went from snow to dirt as soon as i enclosed it and i have crops growing inside. ina snow /forest zone i built my base on top of a bunker i found besides a borns an noble castle book store. it is on the edge of snow and forest zones so i get both its in a small town on random gen map.

I use iron bars for my roof in my garden area of my snow biome home. Iron bars are perfect for this area and let in tons of sunlight for the garden to grow.

normal wooden widnows work too and are hell of a cheaper alternative to bars ;) glass panels work too but you will need a lot more of them - unless you also want the secutiry then yes bars are best.

The same way you do in every biome. So yea like the people say, not planted in snow ;)

I play with insane zombies so I need the bars myself and I use them as windows to shoot through if I get attacked. I mine a lot so I have no problem getting ore.
