Ladders and Climbing Trees

You have a ladder, but after you dig a hole you can't place the ladder you built to climb out? It's like you dug your own grave.

You should be able to climb a tree in times of need. I'm sure zombie dogs including most zombies can't climb trees.

You can place logs now so I have been waanting to olace them & see if I can use ladders on them for a tree fort.

You can place ladders when crouching exactly 2 blocks (or higher) above your head.
Jump while placing a wood frame below you, then jump up onto the ladder.

Have you actually tried to climb a tree that doesn't have low-hanging branches? It's fairly difficult, even more so when tired from running and with zombie dogs chasing you.

can you place a ladder against dirt? At the moment I'm suck in a hole with no way to climb out.
I'm sure if your life depended on it you could probably climb a tree with no lower branches (I can climb a tree with no low branches, not much different than climbing a rope - if you're in shape)

You can get out of a 1x1 hole... just have plenty of Wooden Frames and use the Nerd Pole method... then dig a 1x1 hole 1 square away so you follow the frames back down. Complete the frames and then put a ladder back to the surface. Dont forget a hatch to discourage `drops ins`

Yes. MonkeyEmperor's method also works. Also, it's harder than it seems and takes longer than it seems (especially with tireless zombies chasing you).
