RESOLVED Forge Issues
My bf and I are playing 7 days to die and we made a forge. We have scrap iron and clay but the forge doesn't recognize that we have scrap iron and clay (and thinks we have 0 of each)= we can't make an anvil.
Anyone else having the same problem?

You have to place the iron and clay into the input slots. There's 2 empty boxes right next to the display that says that you have 0 of each resource

Have you turned the forge on? You can't just put them in the input slot and start crafting. You have to turn it on and let the clay and iron smelt down. Once you turn it on you will start to see your iron and clay numbers rise.

The forge menu is just not intuitive at all. Looks like a work in progress (rushed) layout.

Sure you're not being overly harsh? I think it's way better than the old layout.

I put the wood in, turned it on, and put the clay and iron into the input slots but it didn't work... Restarting a new world... and hoping that's better. But at least now the Mods know there's a bug

It won't register that they are in until it actually smelts down...it takes a bit of waiting then when the right amount of materials are smelted the recipe will show em available.

Hmm... maybe I didn't wait long enough. I did wait for a good period of time though. Thanks

I have to admit that I think the forge isn't as intuitive as it should be...it wasn't hard to really figure it out, but how to use it isn't exactly instantly obvious...

Just know that you don't directly smelt ores and scraps into crafted items...

ores and scraps are placed in the two boxes on the right most panel.
these ores and scraps are not used directly in the crafting process.

instead they are smelted into the furnace as refined materials for crafting. These refined materials cannot be taken out of the furnace and stay as a numerical value (the chart to the right of where you put your scraps and ores.)
crafting then subtracts from those numbers to craft directly out of the forge.

understand that the forge isn't just a forge alone now, the forge now consists of an anvil, calipers, and a die set. Therefore you do more than just smeltering and casting from there the forge.

both smelting and crafting requires the forge to be fueled in order for a crafting project to be started, otherwise the option remains gray.

Thanks for the explanation. It now make sense to me. Unfortunatly I just destroyed my only two forges thinking they were deffective. Crap! Need to hunt some more to get hide for a new bellow.

I like the new forge! I love the fact that I don't have to keep swapping out molds. And I can set up a que while I'm doing other things.
