7 Days to Die

7 Days to Die

Can we evade the 7th day horde?
I mean can we like get about 1km from our base and wait until they spawn and just ran away from them?

I'm on my 7th day right now and I don't think I'll make it with 100 arrows and my grass armor :(

if your base isn't up for the challenge one tactic for the 7th day hordes is run around away from base (good opportunity to gather feathers, stones, etc) and if/when you hear them coming run off and around back to base. They'll continue on their way and you're back home.
Just find a double story cabin, knock out the stairs inside and outside, add another wall of upgraded wood frames on the ground floor, and a row of wood log spikes, and just shoot them like fish in a barrel from the second story with your bow. Very easy to get done in the first 7 days on SP :)

You can do a few things actually;

1. Find a cave like many have said

2. Even digging a hole is fine, you should have iron tools for the job by day 7

3. If you can get your hands on coffee or grain alcohol, you can run until dawn. Not sure in this patch but in A12 the only mob that doesn't stop chasing you is the feral zombie.

4. You can find a city and go to the top of the apartment building, they cant get up there

The key is to survive the night, once that's done, you outrun them and they despawn.

now the spiders are back they can, so you have to make a ledge around the building so they can't climb up.
And demolish 2 steps of the stairs and/or block the top with wood frames
How to survive the first 7 day horde...

Make stone axe
Spend a day just chopping down tree's
Spend a day looting stuff while making about 50 frames and LOTS of spikes

On day 3 build a little square house and surround it with spikes, about 4/5 rows ALL AROUND your house. Also torces all around so you can see well.

Listen out for dogs (They come on day 5 now not day 6) Let them die on the spikes and CLEAN UP THE BODIES.

Day 7 horde, go on top of your house with a bow and a bunch of arrows.

Watch and smile as the horde comes and breaks there legs on your spikes while you pick them off one by one.

Or you can just farm a load of wood, Dig straight down about 3 wide and sit in the hole when the horde comes, loot the bodies as they plummet to there deaths and drown in a pile of gore, entrails and blood

You can run from the 7th night horde just fine, save for dogs. Just get on a road with a beer/alcohol/coffee and wait for the clock to strike 2200. Soon as you heard the sound of spider zombies (Don't worry, you'll hear it just fine) drink your drink, wait 10 seconds and book it down the road.

Only thing you'll have to worry about is dogs & ferals. Dogs no longer lose interest unless you can get them hung up on the enviroment and ferals can outpace you at night. The first 7th night won't have any ferals, so you shouldn't have too much trouble. 14th night will be when $hit hits the fan.

Also, don't do this if you care about your base, because assuming you were near it when 2200 hit, then chances are good you'll return to it smashed and trashed.

They changed the 'lose interest' on dogs. It's now 25 seconds. I don't know if that counts for a 7-day horde because I like to convert POIs into bases and fight from a fixed position.
Get lots of scrap iron. Make scrap iron frames. Make a box out of them and upgrade them once each. Sit inside and repair. It takes 750 hits for a zombie to totally destroy a once-upgraded scrap frame, so you should be able to last the night. If possible also place 4-5 layers of spikes around the base.

AVOID DOORS. Doors are zombie magnets. Instead of a door, make a ramp up that you jump off to get onto your roof, then a ladder down.

Remember to place a rim/lip around your base so that the spiders can't climb in and kill you.

I'm not sure they despawn anymore. I was at forward base on Day 14 and the hordes spawned. I was throwing pipe bombs from the second floor down on the horde on the first floor when I blew myself up.

I spawned at my base, which was way far away. By the time I got back to gather up my back-pack, clothing, etc., it was daylight and I had to kill off the horde. Fortuantely they were all walkers so it just time consuming vs dangerous.

Maybe I got back too early, I just don't know. But it was light and I was killing off ferals, dogs & the rest of them.
I'm thinking of those huge walls. Make a ramp going up with a break for removable frames. Then dig into the wall and lay rows of spikes on the ground. Those who spawn above will just fall on the spikes since there will be nothing to catch on to. :p
i will find or build a building far away from my base. stash loot there, and when the 7 day horde arrives. i will go there and let it spawn there so if i die it does not threaten my main base.
Out of interrest - since i think hordes are not balanced very well - does anybody use his real base for the 7 Day hordes? (and doesnt use some exploit or abuse zombie pathfinding etc?)

Since most people i know have a second base/cave etc. for hordes since their main bases would just take a lot damage and not hold up. I always found this akward - why build a base if you never want to use it for the 7Day hordes because they destroy too much.

i will have a second base until i see my main ready for the Feral horde, then the 2nd base becomes a fallback base in case the feral horde destroyed my main (around day 21-24).
it is entirely possible to evade the horde, no need for building walls, no need to dig a hole....it's very simple. When night time on day 7 makes it's horn announcement, the game will create a spawn point randomly at a fixed location away from your current location. From that spawn point a destination point is set at your current coordinates and the hordes moves toward that. The destination point is fixed and does not follow you. The zombies will move to that destination point, hang around for a little bit, then run again along the same vector they came along and continue until they reach the despawn range.

So what you do is you wait for the day 7 horde to begin spawning, keep a lookout for what direction they are coming from...then move away from that path. and be sure to keep out of spotting range.

I made a video of this on my a12 playthrough, it's old but the method is still valid.

skip to about 30 or 32 minutes.

Always hold up in my main base, thats where I find most of my enjoyment here, like testing my battle plans basically lol.

Bunkers don't work either.... they smell you and dig a hole above you to get to you.
How deep?
