Zombie Bears?
Has anyone come across one? Do they look different from normal bears?

Also agree: Only ever seen one during screamer hordes. They're black and have red eyes and I'm pretty sure they got patches of missing skin on them. Kinda like them old Jurassic Park toys from back ion the day. I've seen some zombies attack them but I don't think I've seen a zombie bear hit back. But then again, the zombie attacking the z-bear was easily distracted.

Also can confirm they're a nightmare to fight if you piss one off. Once one has you in its sights, its you or them. Kinda like a fera at night, because I can also confirm they can keep pace with you if you decide to try and book it & run.

Notice how nobody has gotten a screencap of one? That's because unless you cheat/mod one in, the chances are good when you see one, you'rll be too wrapped up in staying alive you won't think, "Oh yeah, F12!"

There we go. Screenshot of a zombie bear. Not easy to get a screenshot of.
Seen the new screamers too much, remind me of a mix between the little girl in Dawn of the Dead and something from The Ring, we call em emo's, lmao. I think they were enviromental activists before the change as they only turn up when ya start forging like a loon, lol. Still not seen a z bear though, but hey all the z's in my games seem to have gone on holiday, that or there's a strike, or like everything else atm, austerity cuts have hit them too.
13.6 cranked their spawning WAY down and then doubled the amount of time necessary for a zombie to respawn. It seems to be hitting screamers as well, since I had to set up 3 forges and 6 campfires just to get one to spawn in.
@Blue
We have our base slap bang in the middle of the hub, maybe that's the difference, but with just 1 forge and 1 fire which will spawn the emo, she in turn summons 2 more emos and between them we get a lovely full on horde. This is cool because we see more animals than zeds otherwise. Also, being in the city (I assume) this happens every day without fail atm, so much so that a day 7 horde can became a near constant stream for 3 days. Happy happy joy joy :)
When I was exploring found a small fortified house in the middle of the forest. A bear was walking. Waited a bit, and the bear passed the house.
While I was breaking the door, started to hear the sound of fight, seems that the bear was fighting a zombie.
Finally the door broke. I went inside and made a new door to loot in peace. And maybe pass the upcoming night here.

Was mindind my business when a very furious zombie bear started pounding the door. I don't know if was the light of the sunset and the perspective, but the bear was almost white, with blood in the jaws, and pretty huge.

I crouched, my back against the wall and started to shoot arrows at the bear's head. Luckily it got stuck or something at the door, because the head was inside, but the door was not all broken, so the claws doesn't reached me.
I kept shooting with panic... until I realized that was already dead.

And that was my first and only encounter with a zombie bear. And of course, I almost pee my pants in the process! :ralphhurt:

that sounds like a normal bear, the zombie bears we get on the server that are spawned in by the screamer are dark brown in colour, great story tho, lost many an arrow to an already dead bear lmao :)
If you can tell the general color of the bear, its a regular bear. Zombie bears are almost black as night. My screenshot up there was one of about 12 I actually took and the one I posted here is the only one where you can see the red blood on it.

If the bear is fighting a zombie, its a regular bear. Some zombies don't seem to recognize the zombie bear as a fellow zombie, but nothing short of a cop or a feral can take a hit from a zombie bear. They'll kill any standard zombie in a single blow. (Not sure about bloated zombie.)

If you just see a bear, its a regular bear. Zombie bears do not spawn naturally. They do not spawn with a roaming horde, they do not spawn with a blood moon horde. A pissed-off screamer is the only one who can summon a zombie bear. Even then, zombie bears don't seem to appear at night, nor do they seem to appear anytime before somewhere around day 42.

I mentioned 2 despawned in this particular horde without my fighting them, but I've run into 2 before when playing on multiplayer and let me and anyone else that's fought one tell you: there's a reason these things are the rarest creature in the game, even more so than ferals. Running into one is the closest thing you'll get to a boss fight in this game.

At least, these are all my observations. Can anyone else confirm?

I never got the chance to harvest one though, and I wonder what they drop. Probably the same as a dog, just more of it.........
Someone said rotten meat... So that would be the same as a dog. Hide too, probably.

They look like... zombie bears. For real, you can't mistake them.
Also you get rotten meat from them.
