Brass Ore
During my endless hours of playing this game, I have come across many issues that I think need to be brought up. For example, brass ore definetly needs to be implemented because for the simple reason of it's quite hard to get if you use the amount of ammo I do. Foraging for scrap brass is something I would do early game, there must be an easier alternative for getting brass other than foraging in towns and cities.

If you walk down a road and loot every trashbag you'll have a ton of brass.

Also you can go in certain buildings and take out the lights for brass...some iron some brass...the brass ones are gold colored.

Either way brass is an alloy of copper and zinc so they would either need to add copper ore and zinc ore...or add copper and find an item in game for zinc.

They might be just waiting for electricity and when we need copper wires they will add in the ability to either mine copper ore or harvest electrical wire out of walls/TVs.

For now though its really about trashbags looking for brass candles holders, air filters, trophies and casings...and its also a great source for oil as well...

Brass is a metal alloy made of copper and zinc.
So I don´t think you will find any ore of it.

However your point of being able to find large amounts of it would be good.
Perhaps in a crate in the hardware store?

What is this? A joke? O_o

Brass is a metal alloy dude!
Maybe you'd want Copper Ore + Zinc Ore, don't you?

Edit: Lol, I see so many comments already... nice one though. :-]

In reality we "could" just use steel casings...no reason why it wouldnt work...it isnt as though we recover our casings anyways.

I understand where all of you are coming from. But my purpose also is to have generally an idea of finding large amounts of it not scrap in towns. So yes I agree with you, mikaelm

There really isnt much to leave your fort for after awhile...brass is really one of the few things...so I like having to go gather it, vs it just coming for free while mining other things.

A13 will add oil shale, so even oil from trashbags is probably going to be a past tense thing...which that I can understand as we need it for gas and weapon/vehicle repairs.

I wouldnt be surprised though to see them add copper and zinc at some point once they get a few things situated better, or allow us with the right tool to maybe tear it out of walls?

I just dont think they are quite ready and set up to have it trivialized for the moment.

Ja, the inbalance coal&potasium versus brass is a problem in my ammo-production too.
I usually have heaps of gunpowder and then me going throu every trashcan and zombie to find just a litle bit of brass. :(

So I too want to see some rebalancing of the matter.

Meh. I am not a fan of making things too easy - I mean it is a survival game after all, right (and not a shooter ;))?. Even though I already have tons of ammo after a few rl days. It's not that hard to collect brass if you check trash and/or go scavenging on a regular basis.

I'm sure once copper ore is a thing theyll make forging brass from it

Just give us steel casings! Looting towns for brass only works for so long until you run out /:

We added copper and zinc to the ore xml and created a crucible that goes into a camp fire to create brass

Brass is really easy. It blows my mind when I am looting on a multiplayer server and I'll find stuff that was looted and people just leave all the brass items everywhere! And lots of people don't scrap either! I've played with people that will bring brass doorknobs back to our community base - what the hell? Guys all brass can be scrapped to a giant stack so you're only taking up 1 inventory slot for a massively worthwhile item. Even if your inventory is full and you come upon a brass candlestick for example, you can right click -> scrap it and it will automatically stack with your existing scrap brass. A lot of times I'll get 100 scrap brass (and for that matter, several hundred scrap iron as well) in one day, that's 800 casings! If you just knew how to efficiently loot your life would be a lot easier.

Never had an issue with brass. Possibly could if i played on a server and it was picked pretty clean. Usually have lots of brass. Often times I drop it to carry other loot I value more than brass even. Mostly though as said brass is not a naturaly occuring element you would dig up. So I will say Nay on Brass Ore.

That seems like a good server idea, I coudl get behinnd that.... for server play. Solo or with a couple friends playing PVE though, it would just be too easy IMO.

Eh...I play on a public server with average of 6 of us on minibikes looting towns on end all day for brass
