A broken leg IS a debuff.

I assume you mean heal, in which case 2 sticks and 2 cloth fragments make a splint.
what eidobunny said

i think it adds a little to be honest, to have lasting problems instead of just Health.

@Carlito: After you have splinted the leg - be carefull with it until it is fully healed! it will be more sensitive than a healthy leg and will break easily again. Don't jump from heights that would normaly be okay. Don't run down slopes - especialy in caves. Take it easy until it's healed.

Do you know what a debuff is? It's game lingo for a negative effect on your character. A "debuffer" is a character who applies debuffs to targets. So if I was a debuff character in an RPG for example, I would debuff my enemy by slowing them, poisoning them, lowering their offensive or defensive attributes, etc.

So to say that you want to debuff a broken leg, it doesn't really make sense. What you want to do is heal or cure your broken leg debuff.

you could also "buff" a broken leg, i guess the "debuff" to a sprained ankle is a broken leg. but yeah "debuffing" a broken leg would be to remove all the *positive* benefits from it.

I don't think you would ever refer to removing a debuff as "buffing," buffing takes a normal state and makes it positive. Debuffing takes a normal state and makes it negative. You can remove or dispel debuffs or buffs, and you can also cure or heal debuffs.

my thought would be if debuff and buff are used as adjectives or nouns. as adjectives anything "debuffed" would be of lesser desirable state, "buffed" more desirable state. as nouns i agree a debuff is solely negative, a buff solely positive. which leads me to wonder is they will ever have a "mixed" buff eg: "a nice buzz" with + to stamina, but - to weapon sway...

well, thinking of it, chili is a mixed buff +to food -to gassiness(though im not sure this has any effect yet...havent gone from undetected to detected from a post-chili fart)

so if you splint your leg, your progressing towards normal, but still sub-par "buffing" a broken leg, or lessening the broken leg "debuff"? personal preference id guess

I would just say cases like chili/drunk simply apply both a buff and a debuff. For splinting, the splint is still a debuff, just not as severe.

fair enough

Yes, a buff is a positive affect and debuff is negative affect. The console commands don't agree though. In the console, there are positive and negative buffs and the debuff brings the character back to normal.

What OP is looking for is "debuff sprainedLeg" and "debuff brokenLeg" to return your character to normal. Using "buff brokenLeg" will give you a broken leg.
