I've been pretty ambivalent about this weapon so far. I'd come across them in various qualities, but they always left me feeling somewhat ... underwhelmed.

Not anymore.

On day 1 of my latest game, I looted a purple one (quality 540), and I'm totally sold. Holy cats, but this thing just mows through things! Safes - open in 9-10 hits. Hard metal doors - about 20 hits will crack a fully upgraded one. Mining? Cake. It's now my go-to item for all things crafty; no carrying around a fireaxe, pick, and shovel for me!

About the only thing it doesn't do well is combat. Yes, the damage is high (19 to entities, 11 to blocks), but it has a ludicrously short range, and it's slow to boot. I don't care. I have perfectly good weapons for combat. Bu as a multitool? Oh, my, yes!

Keep that short reach in mind when felling trees. :-)

When I find a location with an artifact chest I camp out near until I get one. Been at a site in my current game close to 30 days awaiting my purple but only managed up to green so far but I'm good it still does the job.

It also sucks at repairing, so 2 things it does not do well. By sucks at, I mean you cannot repair anything with it.

I know, but that's what my claw hammer is for. Plus, occasionally it's quite rewarding to smash a skull with the hammer. ;-P

I found a purple 540 aswell is it like one of the rarest itest in game ?
