Any noise warning when horde approaching?
Hi all

Im curious if there is a noise I should be listening out for when in my base if horde/feral are approaching/outside?

Im not great on noises and only really noticed the buzzing of the wasps so far. But when at bedrock level I struggle :)

Cheers

only had a noise on day 7 in solo play but on my server you get the noise in the distance of hornets but if the hoard is near you always get the hornet sounds when they are getting nearer to you

When the zombies hordes approached I couldn't hear them
why? Because sneaky buggers learned to Tiptoe!

you wont hear much at bedrock, turn your sound right up with headphones and you can hear footsteps, safe down there tho, for now lol, only way to be sensed down there is from really smelly food as i recall.

If you're at bedrock, only the smelliest of foods, raw meat, should be detectable assuming you're on the more shallow end of bedrock (only a 60-ish depth). If you're base was dug from an elevated area like a hill or from a cliff, you might actually be low enough (at the 70 -80 block depth) that even those foods won't get you detected.

Now as for the OP's question, what sound you hear, if you even can hear them at that depth, will depend on the horde type. Wandering hordes will primarily be footsteps since they rarely have the special zombie types (dogs, bees, cops, or ferals) to make distinguishing sounds. For heat hordes, you'll mostly hear the sound of the spider zeds in the form of screeches. For feral hordes, the sound of bees, cops, and ferals will be unique from the rest but they're kind of hard to hear. Overal, footsteps will be your biggest sign that a horde is nearby.
