Bases in 1.0 ?
Hello peeps !

I've been playing this game very long time ago, when it was in the early stages and stopped around A16 or so I think.

I'm getting back to the game and wondering what kind of base is efficient nowadays ? I do remember the very old water bases, bedrock bases, tower bases, pyramids bases... How about now ? What kind of layout is working good ? I take it electricity and traps is a way to go ?

As far as i have seen there are 3 main types of bases. (1) The afk base, where the zombies path too you over a block they cant cross and so fall down and start the path again. (2) A base made up usually of a tower and traps ( i.e. spikes, blades or turrets kill everything for you. (3) Base is made to get zombies to path to you but a hatch or a pole is stoping them from overrunning you and you swing a weapon or use a gun to just mow down zombies all night.
I use an elevated base 5 blocks off the ground and i make it a long hallway of like 50 blocks (havn't found best length yet , too long and it dosn't work too short and you have less time) then every block down the tunnel is an electric fence they have too cross. The fences them selves are in an access tunnel right on the other side of hallway to protect then and to repair them if needed. At the end of hallway i have enough room for people too stand with bars closing the space off with 1 block open and a hach on the floor to stop the zombies if they make it throug the wires. We shoot zombies or wait for them to get to the hatch and swing weapons.

Is your hallway on the ground lvl or on the elevated base ? What kind of "connection" do you have to link ground to base ?

Thanks for your answer :)

There is also a base with a pathing that takes zombies more time to follow than the length of horde night. Although more building than I prefer, the outside the box thinking is absolutely brilliant.

Would you care to explain a bit more ? The outside of the box ?

Honestly, the most efficient base is a simple rectangle right on the ground, with a hallway in the middle and a door at the end on one side. Put a few electric fences crossing the hallway, maybe use 2 layers of blocks for the outer wall, and you are good to go.

The door acts as a lure to the zombies because they view doors as having something like half the HP they actually do. They all run down the hall, get stunned over and over by the fences and you can easily just kill them all. The stun also pretty much guarantees head shots.

It works with pretty much any weapon, but it works even better if you use rifles with AP ammo and penetrator since you can kill 4 zombies with a single shot.

ok my hallway is on the elevated area and the floor of the hall is 5 blocks above a level ground. the hall is 2 blocks tall and 3 blocks wide (but the whole structure width is much bugger because of the hallways on either side of the hall accessible only from the shooting area). i connect the ground to the hallway two ways. (1) a ladder that has the bottom 2 rungs missing on the back that leads to a hatch on the top. The zombies never seem to attack a hatch at the top of stairs don't know why. and (2) a stair ways that's wraps around the front. So make it a stair leading from hall down to ground and then get the stair wedges and make it as easy and wide as possible to get up from all 3 ways. I add several other parts to it as i progress. I make the ground underneath concrete, I add solar. late game when the domolishers start appearing i add a pit with 3 layers of concrete and 5 blocks deep right at the cage and 2 powered garage doors to make a dumping spot so i can rain grenades on the demoloshers and kill them without setting them off. I have been working on this design since electricity was put into the game. waiting for the cross play b4 i make a new one for this release though. It can be made small and expanded as you grow but this new version has you moving like 2-3 times and its a very resource intensive project.
Let me know if you need help i am a builder so i have a lot of building experience i once built a 100 x 100 pyramid that was almost all open space besides all the necessary support structures with a friend.

pole base 13 blocks up. put barbed wire fences on the pole and it's a turkey shoot. no zombies get to the face of where i fight. too easy. try no horde base! just get mega crushes and all is well.
