hatch door work around ?
Sense zombies can crouch now the good old hatch door elevated tunnel base no longer seems to work as before, what would be a good work around ? I build a base yestoday with my friend but i did old cheese design just to relise today they will get trough.

Maybe just putting in a beam on top of hatchet ? (That way you need to break both hatch door and the beam on top i assume and you can still open the doors and crouch under them ?

zombies get on eachother heads and crouch in the 1 space opening above the hatch door, i places a slab and they dont seem to get trough at all besides a few that glitch trough. So yea the good old week 1 to end game cheese design still works

Damn, you beat me to it. Just did some testing in debug menu and found that a pole placed above the hatch stops zombies from crawling through the opening. Some zombies can still faze through the hatch when ragdolled and push from behind by other zombies.

That's not going to last for long. Poles now have only 25% hp of regular block.

just put another hatch door on the top of the bottom one? Open the top one when you want to shoot.

they can crouch but its buggy as hell and takes them time, you have plenty of time to just kill them before they get in.

Hatch still works, you just have to be aware of the risk of zombies being able to get through it. They seem to only be able to crawl through if the 'ground level' is consistent with the gap, so if you have a 2-hatch doorway with the top hatch open, the only way a zombie is crawling in is if they are crouching on top of another already-crouching zombie. This is a pretty easy thing to spot and prevent, however. I'm also finding a turret is helpful here, since both the robotic turret and sledge turret have really high chances of ragdolling zombies, which will cause them to fall off.

Hatches still work, either use the pole/plate method mentioned above or you can do what I do since the pole HP nerf. Look up window shutters, put one on the ceiling above the hatch sideways and when you want to fight open both the hatch and the shutter, this gives you half a block to swing/shoot through and zombies can't get through.

Be aware that attacks with a vertical swing may hit the shutter.

The coward, and easiest, way to deal with the horde is to build a base exploring and exploiting how the AI works. We know zombies will attack you from the fastest path possible, destroying or no blocks in the way.

A build you can do is a simple build that you can win the 7th day by staying AFK. You create a suspended box, with only one side open, a broken bridge with spikes on the bottom, and a Robotic Sledge turret on your side.

Zombies will see the side that is open is the fastest way to reach you, they'll ignore everything and walk through the bridge to get you, but since you broke one or two tiles, they are forced to jump to your side, when they do that, the Robotic Sledge turret will push them to the pit, they'll fall into the spikes, take damage and, if alive, repeat the process.

You can improve this base by making better traps instead of simple spikes at the bottom of the pit, and improving your Robotics skills will allow you to have two Robotic Sledge, which allows you to have two paths instead of one, killing them twice.

Since you are playing with friends, all of them can do the same, but each of you'll have to place the Robotic Sledge turret on the ground, so they are the owner, and make it work.

Edit:
Basically is this build from the left:
